Likewise. What I respect about a lot of his samples (especially those early to late 2000's tracks), for the most part, recaptured the essence of the original source material in the new thing he created from it. Often people sample music just to capture a particular sound. Completely abandoning the context and purpose of whatever they're using.
@@julianreed7 I totally agree. I couldn't have said it better myself. For example, no disrespect to Just Blaze, but he's got a tendency of identifying vocal motifs that he loops into a killer track - but ultimately what he's done is rob a particular style just to make a party banger.
Since the group disbanded since 1977 and the artists in question pretty much left the industry (and disappeared) I really wonder how it went as far as royalties.
I am listening to the game wouldn't get far. I look in the comments and saw where he'd sampled the wouldn't get far part and found this gem. Her voice is stunning!!!!
I still remember the day I played Wouldn't Get Far by the game at home. My mom overheard that song, and realized that the Game sampled Creative Sources. She pulled out the CD and played it for my friend and me. I was so impressed she knew off-hand which song the sample was from. Moms for the win
1976,,, Living in South Carolina listening to this song going to high school. Then 30 odd years later some rappers took a few lines from this song and had a hit record from it. I told some young people where The Game and Kanye West got their song from and they were like "No bro! They created this song all by themselves!" :-)
It being sampled so much is credit. Also, they (original artists and composers) get paid off of all of those samples, and will forever. I understand (and agree with) your point, that being said.
First hip hop sample was by Jaheim "Still Ghetto" (2002). Jadakiss in a second time "By Your Side" (2004) and finally Game & Kanye "Wouldn't Get Far" (2006)
@@brad_maina Nah ur tripping, both songs are fire and Kiss' is real af talking about the consequences of violence, that whole verse about being in the hospital, tubes in you, shit is raw
I like to give a shot out to my radical hippie aunties; aunt charmaine, phyillis, paulette, myra and especially aunt Dale. Thank you for playiny music like this when i was growing up. 😭😍🤗
@@limu013 Kanye may have some good DJs who bring him the old school breaks but overall he is an embarrassment. Im sure you go directly to the source, the original soul, funk, jazzfunk and boogie. 👌🏾👍🏾
@@creativesource3514 You've said it all. Yes, go to the Source since a long time, what Afro-American music gave us is inestimable !! Thanks for your comment bro ;-)
After hearing the song from The Game it just made me appreciate Kanye's production more and how he's a true music enthusiast. Kanye's got me into so many classics. "YOU WOULDN'T GET FAR, FAR, FAR ,FAR" 🔥
I really don't like the Jadakiss song. The beat sucks. Kanye on the other hand managed to create such a catchy beat that still sounds like the original song.
I first heard this from SUC...Big Pokey, Big Hawk and Lil Keke...I think its better than Kanye and Jadakiss combined. RIP Big Pokey and Hawk...Screwed 4 Life
As someone who listened to The Game and Kanye song a hundred times, this give me blue balls because especially after she says you wouldn't get far or for you baby I'd find you lol.
