Im honestly amazed with what Capital One has done recently as far as putting together probably the most hassle free, cost effective Duo in the game. I still dont understand why it receives so much hate. Well i guess besides the crazy application process and all the denials. Matt are you still punching air over that whole denial thing??
Yeah the Cap One Duo getting positive value with well-rounded multipliers across the board is definitely a huge reason I wasn't too surprised to see this as our Championship. Yeah I think the Duo itself is great, I think some of the negatives come from Capital One as an issuer themselves in terms of like you said the weird application/approval process, etc. Haha- I'm not punching air anymore because luckily, the denial was on my wife's application, and I think it's pretty clear it was a denial because of how inquiry sensitive Cap One is & what her Personal Credit Report looked like in terms of inquiries. Just weird because we used the PreApproval Tool and everything pointed toward an approval. But- I prioritized Biz Cards all of last year, so have way less on my Personal Credit Report and just ran the Venture X PreApproval tool and was approved.. So hoping this next application when I decide to apply probably soon goes well. Thanks Luke!
Ur comment is critically why CC churning is NOT a game for the youth. They’re gonna hit lenders’ max velocity and be locked out of great cards/promos😵…for who knows how long.
Honestly, I am not surprised by the fact that the cards of the Capital One Duo will be facing off with each other in the championship. On the cash back side, I did vote for the SavorOne because I think it is a little bit better that the Citi Custom Cash. I have both cards, but I do like to get at least 3x back on my highest spending categories. On the travel side, I did vote for the CSP over the Venture X because I like the fact that the CSP has a lower annual fee. At this time, the CSP would make more sense for me to have, but I can see myself getting the Venture X in the future. I will definitely be looking forward to seeing the live stream that you and RJ will be doing next week!
Absolutely! Yeah the Venture X making the championship was somewhat predictable given how high the popularity for that Card has stayed. The Savor One knocking off the Citi Custom Cash was a bit of an upset and I can definitely see the validity for wanting the elevated multipliers aside from just one category with the Custom Cash. Thanks so much for your support John, excited for that livestream next week!
I wrestled with CSP vs VX a while back but between the credits and anniversary bonus to me it just has more value. I also love the savor one 3x categories… the fact you can transfer that to the VX makes it tough to beat
