[Verse 1] Early in the evenin', just about supper time Over by the courthouse, they're starting to unwind Four kids on the corner trying to bring you up Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp [Chorus] Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet [Verse 2] Rooster hits the washboard, and people just got to smile Blinky thumps the gut bass and solos for a while Poor boy twangs the rhythm out on his Kalamazoo Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo [Chorus] Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet [Instrumental Break] [Chorus] Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet [Verse 3] You don't need a penny just to hang around But if you've got a nickel, won't you lay your money down? Over on the corner, there's a happy noise People come from all around to watch the magic boy [Chorus] Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet Down on the corner, out in the street Willy and the Poor Boys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet Down on the corner ...
This is fantastic again. Their music was also called swamp blues, a mix of country, blues and rock n' roll. A band with its fair share of misery and mutual struggle that never actually recovered. Tom Fogerty died of AIDS in 1990 and band members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford were sued by John Fogerty because they had started a tribute band. John lost that lawsuit. Radio Wollaton I salute you again.
One of the best bands of all time and one of their best songs. You managed to make it sound fantastic , as you did and their other four songs. I hope you do all the CCR's songs in the future , Pat.
Very good remix of this song of C.C.R, group with 7 fantastics albums from 68 to 72. This song has a french version by Eddy Mitchell - J'Aurai Sa Fille recorded in 71. 👍👌😊
I had a weird car tube radio setup complete with inverter on my basement floor when this one was out. I think this became my favourite song of theirs. I've never seen them on Liberty. Thank you, Pat for the great mix.
Wow!, Pat! It's a small world. My brother built a transmitter and we were able to pick up Magic Carpet Ride within about four blocks in our rural neighbourhood....and that was blocking over the local am radio station. I'm glad we didn't prolong the broadcast! He was the genius; I was the follower. That would be about 1970-71.
My school friend had a 19 set and got caught, and was then fined by the authorities. I got away with it though. Those were fun times, transmitting music for a few blocks ! @@festidious2644
Great mix as usual! Ive looked via you tube with no luck and i was wondering if you had done either The Crazy World of Arthur Brown's "Fire" or Bachman Turner Overdrive's "Aint Seen Nothing Yet" ? Many thanks!
I started work on the Arthur Brown track a long time ago, but lost interest. I must have another go at it now I have new software. And I'll have a look at the BTO track to see if I can do anything with it, but to me, it sounds pretty good as it is !
The only channel I can find is Rock Band Stems, but he is using the same software (UVR5) as me, so no need to use his uploads. It would be nice to get hold of the actual multi track stems though !
