Jon I've used the metal traps my whole life in creeks and my advice to you is put them I. the calmest water you can find instead of the current and for bait, use raw Shrimp or raw chicken legs or chicken breasts. Works like a charm every time!

been catching live bait in traps for years,mainly using the homemade jar type.I use plain old bread slices,maybe about 1/4 slice a trap.Don't overfill the trap and don't feed the area around the trap,keep em hungry.Also try putting a lead weight in the jar fixed with a wire,this stops it rolling away in the current.

Be careful with the cloth traps everyone. I set one up to catch bull head at night and woke up with 7. LITERALLY 7 drowned turtles in it. Felt terrible about it. Just be cautious y’all.

What i like to do with the minnow traps is dig a small depression into the bottom, insert the trap so the lip is parallel with the substrate so bottom swimmers can enter. I also like to place water debris over the trap to construct a mini-habitat.

In the plastic jar traps, use green bracelet glow sticks. They take up basically no space, and leave more room for fish. I once caught about 10 mosquitofish and 10 bullfrog tadpoles all at one time in one of those traps.

So here’s an idea, I use a rock as bait. Honestly it works here’s what to do. Dip a rock in water to get it wet, then coat the rock in flour. Fish are attracted to this (like bread) but it doesn’t expand inside their stomachs and kill them. I think this will help your trap success

Hey Jon, that food your feeding your dog is awful, do some research and you'll see why. Don't fall for the marketing of food designed for your breed. I've been in the pet food world for 14 years and we banned that food from our store because it's that bad, it's made by m&m candy company. You're dog will shed less, poop less and overall be happier add healthier if you feed him better. I know this has nothing to do with fishing, love your channel!
