Puts such a smile on my face to know this. I know he loved Metallica but man... He found them truly sacred if he was constantly worried about his performance. He play this so we'll. Even a different kit set up didn't slow him down a step! The respect I have for Joey continues to grow! I truly with I got to meet and see him play just once... :3

I remember that gig, he was nervous, he kept looking around as if he was close to losing his place. True courage to step up with an act you are so underprepared for in front of such a huge crowd.

True story, he was in a metallica cover band in HS. He played a lot of these songs in this concert and Dave Lombardo played a few too. Lars was sick that night and thankfully those 2 filled in.

@@SonOfNone Are panic attacks not an illness? They're very much involuntary, my man. Panic attacks don't really have anything to do with "nerves" in the colloquial sense. I mean sure, nerves can trigger them but it's not a requirement by any means. You can be completely chilling when your body decides that now is a good time to go into overdrive. Most people think they're having heart attack when they have a panic attack for the first time. It's no picnic.

​@Ibanez527 It wasn't a terrible performance. It's a terrible audio mix. You can barely hear the drums in it. He did just fine. Especially since he just did over an hour with Slipknot right before this. Double duty, back to back.

The drums really don't fit well with the guitar this way. Basically drums and guitar are there to balance eachother out, not compete with eachother (all the double bass and unneccesary fills). It doesn't fit Metallica. He's a good drummer though, just not a fit for Metallica

Someone who can actually keep up with one of the best rhythm players ever, must've felt great for james, i feel like i can't help but feel like lars depletes from their live sound so much..

That’s because most Slipknot songs are harder on drums compared to metallica so joey wouldn’t have a problem here. I think all Metallica songs are relatively easy for joey tbh. Plus lars kit is small so joey wouldn’t have a problem either way.

Idk how you could say he's hands down the best drummer ever with all the great players that are out there (Tomas Haake, Mario Duplantier, and Vinnie Paul are a few of my personal favorites, but there's even guys like El Estepario Siberiano who is really only known from his RU-vid videos but has some of the best chops I've ever seen...) I love Joey Jordison, he was awesome and an incredibly skilled player, but to say he's hands down the best ever is kinda crazy in my opinion... There's just so many amazing and influential drummers that I could never say one is hands down the best ever.
