Creepy Angler Fish Mermaid - Doll Repaint / Mod Tutorial

Hi guys! In today's video we're making this creepy deep sea mermaid inspired by the angler fish. This has been requested for a while so I hope you enjoy ^^ If you have requests for other halloween themed videos let me know!
I used a Monster high doll, but you could also use the same techniques on a Barbie or other doll.
Materials:
Acrylic (Nail art acrylic)
Glue
Acrylic paint
Water color pencils
Chalk pastels
Mr super clear
Polymer clay
Tin foil
Glaze
Doll hair
Doll eyelashes
Wire
Bead or pearl for the light

Honestly, using the acrylic stuff to make acrylic nails was utterly brilliant! Its super strong stuff, doesn't interfere with the color of the doll, and it dries very very quickly!

I honestly think you should make more like this, for example; Jellyfish mermaid, eel mermaid, or octopus mermaid. It would be amazing!

Cool, it would be cool if you could put a bit of glow in the dark paint on the bead, so it can give off a glow to make her look even more like an angler fish

So amazing. I could just see this creature luring poor doomed sailors to their death. Then she would simply absorb them like the female lantern fish does to the male. Thus making sure her species lives on. Hope I didn't scare anyone too much. Science can be freaky.

I honestly feel like it would have been better if she sanded the tail to get rid of inperfections and bumps, it would have been better quality. I suggest using sanding blocks or a Dremel

True, but angler fish is a reeaaly ugly fish with bumps ect. So i actually think a unsmoothed finish works here

The facial structure you gave this creature looks a lot like the Mortal Kombat species of Tarkatan, the main characters being Baraka and Mileena. Heavy brows, sharp teeth, wider jawline... Very cool

All the scary angler fish are female. The males are tiny in comparison and fuse with the female. So they just become a nub on her body to be used when she wants to reproduce

Oooo, I never thought of using nail acrylics for doll sculpting. I must try it! (Its probably a little cheaper and lighter then 2 part apoxy clay)

Did you know that the female angler fish are much bigger than the males, and they are the ones with the bulbs on thier head? All those angler fish in famous movies such as Finding Nemo are actually female becuase they are bigger and much more scary looking than the males. I'd say this doll is accurate to the real life angler fish in nature. She's scary, yet beuatifull at the same time.

My husband DM'ed a Halloween special D&D based oneshot and the monster we fought at the end was heavily inspired by this creature. I instantly recognised it when he described it to us and asked and he said: When I saw you watching this video a while back I thought "I have to have that in my adventure!" So your anglerfish mermaid made it in to D&D.

I’ve been wanting to experiment with acrylic on dolls. This is perfect! Does the brand of acrylic matter? Is acrylic easier than epoxy sculpt to work with?
