There are some projects that are a rite of passage, but often they’re seen as only being accomplished one way. In this video, I turn this classic DIY upside down and show you my approach to making creepy Halloween candles with PVC pipe and hot glue.

I find it interesting that candles made to look real look better than real candles. Some real candles just burn straight down the center leaving a deep well. Well done, sir!
@TrueBrit1
@TrueBrit1 Год назад
That normally happens when you light a candle, then blow it out after a short time. An example would be a Yankee Candle. I found this out from somebody else, but the instructions for the candle (yeah right, who on earth reads instructions??) say that once you light a new candle, leave it to burn for 2 or 3 hours until the top 1cm has melted fully across the top, then blow it out. When you relight it, it will continue to burn evenly. When it burns unevenly, it's called the 'tunnelling effect' and it ruins candles, so the same principle will apply to all candles. Light them, let the top 1cm or so melt, before blowing it out. Then just use as normal after that. See this video which explains all: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VHn8dp4eMhc.html

Using the white glue is a good tip. I hated having to spray paint all my creepy candles with some sort of annoying oil based paint I got. It took forever. I did find some kind of special glue that cut down on strings at Michaels that was noticeably easier to work with for candles than regular glue.

You can use any led tea candle for the light and anything that will fit inside the pipe as a way to support the tea candle. I like to hide them deeper inside so that you just barely see the “flame” when I use this method, that way you don’t ruin the effect.

You could absolutely add tops, although it’s not uncommon for candles to melt unevenly, leaving behind a void down the center. The beauty of all of this is that you can make these however you like to achieve the look you’re after with the same steps.
