I don’t have anything else to do, so I’ll share some facts about this creepy, yet interesting piece of art! The Gashadokuro are spirits that take the form of giant skeletons and are fifteen times larger than an average person, said to be created from the amassed bones of people who died of starvation or in battle, without being buried. These yōkai roam after midnight, grabbing lone travelers and biting off their heads to drink their spraying blood. There is a way to know of their approach, as the victim would hear the sound of loud ringing in the ear. The Gashadokuro are said to possess the powers of invisibility and indestructibility, though Shinto charms are said to ward them off. The Gashadokuro is a yōkai that first appeared in print in the latter half of the 20th century. It was created by the authors of shonen magazines published from 1960-1970 and illustrated yōkai encyclopedias. Shigeaki Yamauchi's (Akita Shoten, 1968) compiled articles about yōkai by Saitō Ryokuu. At the same time, it was also picked up by Shigeru Mizuki and Satō Aribumi, and from their introduction, the Gashadokuro became more widely known from 1980 on.
they also have a weakness from sunlight or light in general and some rumors says that certains rituals and prayers can scared them or vanish then as if was sunlight

Aight, at first I didn't think the Gashadokuro were scary. After a bit of thought, I realize I was greatly mistaken. Imagine you're a lone samurai, traveling late through the night. Suddenly your ears start ringing, then you turn around and see this big fucker reaching towards you.
I remember discovering this gem in 7th grade while I was going through a huge Japanese demon/spirit yokai phase lol I loved it so much, I’d listen to this all the time. I’m so happy I rediscovered this bad boy!! Big Spooky Skeleton Yokai will always have a place in my heart
Then you realize those charms you bought that were supposed to ward the guy off turn out to be painted rat corpses and you’re just left there like UUIUGGGGGGGGHHHH!
oddly enough, in this world. anything that is holistically relaxing and soothing is more often than not considered creepy. We fear what we don't understand.
That's cool and all but it's the same thing repeated over and over for three hours. I thought there would be some variation of many different tracks. You should put in the title that it's one song repeated for hours, like so many other videos do (10 hours of X song etc).
I see why people would want variation, but as someone who writes to atmospheric music like this, the loop was VERY helpful in setting the mood without being distracting. I loved this, so eerie.

For those curious about the artwork itself, this is “Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre” (or “Mitsukuni Defying the Skeleton Spectre Invoked by Princess Takiyasha”) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, created sometime in the 1840s. It depicts the daughter of the warlord Taira no Masakado (the lady on the image’s far left) summoning a giant skeleton against two of the Emperor’s officials.
wow this music really feels like a tale about restless ghosts who can't find solace and are wandering the worlds, trying to fill in the void inside them. it feels like longing for something that can't be reached
I did the same while reading "Fukuro no Shiro"... and it was amazing! It somehow made de reading even more inmersive and enjoyable. As other people in the coments said, this really fits with the ninja atmosphere of the book.
I feel so let down . i used to play this on a loop while i slept at night . every night for 8 or more hours , for months and months . this dude racked up so much channel support from my sleep habits and now i cant sleep to it anymore because of the commercials constantly waking me up .
I love this music, and painting.. It is one of my favorites! I remember seeing ancient Japanese artwork in a museum as a kid. That's what made me so interested in Japanese culture, as well as the language, because I thought it was beautiful..

i think if it wasn't for the sound effect in the background, this music sounds pretty cool. especially when the flute kicks in, it sounds kinda sad, like this music is trying to tell me a story , a message that i cannot convey. all in all what i'm trying to say is, it exudes omnipotence feeling to it.

Really good, not creepy in my opinion. Just relaxing. I guess some of it could fit a bakeneko. Especially since there doesn't seem to be any japanese music for it... oh, well.
I thought the same thing when I was listening to this on my laptop but now that I'm on my phone it sounds kinda creepy... It's very beautiful music anyway
it kinda is, especially during the new memory sequence, i'd imagine. the brain doesnt pick up on very specific things, just general moods, and i'd say this mood is a nice stalling background music for the calmer moments in between this shit
Somehow, this was cut on while I slept. Like, I don't even remember looking for it or even accidentally clicking on it. I just fell asleep, then woke up, and this was on. Great spooky music to sleep to though.

I remember falling asleep to this 8 years ago at the peak of my absolute hatred, rage and depression during my time in the military. I remember looking at the skeleton and kept thinking to myself, “come for me; I welcome you now.” But to revisit this so many years later.. somehow I just find it rather.. peaceful.

I guess we know where the Yo-kai Watch 2 devs got the inspiration for the design of Gusty Bones. They really are identical, even down to the missing teeth.
