Creepy Old Cartoons That Scared Everyone 

I remember seeing Balloon Land as a kid. The part where they chuck the pincushion man off a cliff and the camera zooms in on his horrified, screaming expression has haunted me ever since.

Eskify doing a face reveal is equally terrifying.

"Cartoons" and "Japan" just never ends well.

I've never seen these classics before. Now, I've got some quality cartoons to show my kids.

The Cobweb Hotel was one of my favorites growing up. Never would have guessed a cartoon considered creepy by Eskify would give me nostalgia.

I never thought watching and hearing old cartoons from the 1930s would be so terrifying yet wholesome.

Eskify, have you ever seen the 1992 short The Sandman? Now THAT is bone chilling. The background music haunts you, even AFTER you watch it and when you try to sleep at night.

Yeah and just a think the original fairy tales before they got disneyfied were quite gruesome.

I'm not sure about Balloon Land, but I definitely recognize Cobweb Hotel from Skinamarink.

I'm a creep that I like to watch Eskify day and night like he's the prophet.

I too was never a child, but perhaps I am today, as I do love things like Eskify, and these creepy old cartoons are amazing.

The Russian one was the only one i found a bit creepy but most of the others i just found funny lol. Ive never found many animations that creepy to be honest but the live-action puppets/people in suits from movies like 'Labryinth' and others like it ive allways found horrifying. Some of the beings from Labryinth are straight out of nightmares i swear lol. And if the puppets didnt give me nightmares David Bowies unessasarilly tight outfit certainly did! 😢😅 Good vid as allways Eski 👍

Aww thanks for sharings this ol Chap! To be honest , even Walt Disney back then had very morbid looking cartoons too. Infact there's a lot of misconceptions about the man and his company at the time with everyone thinking his films were all whimsey and lovely and always wanted happy endings when that is a misconception. Thats not until you get to the 1970's and beyond (kinda) when the studio becomes more corporate for good or bad reasons . The skeleton dance for example or the queen turning into an old woman in 'snow white'

Reminds me of traditional fairy tales. There's this common misconception, that they're children's stuff, but when you look at old folk tales, they're really dark and gory. Either they're cautionary tales, or they're just mindless entertainment for an adult audience.

The spider in Cobweb Hotel is the good guy. Flies are disgusting! Also, Swing You Sinners just shows ghosts are dicks

Funny thing is we actually had The Cobweb Hotel on VHS when I was growing up. Never thought it was scary. The Soviet one however, would indeed have scared me as a kid.

The Snow Man 1932 should be on this list. That cartoon scared the crap out of me and gave me night mares.

Idk if anyone said this already but Swing You Sinners was a major inspiration for the game Cuphead so there is a fun fact. There is even an achievement that said "Swing You Sinners".

You have to understand Japanese folklore to grasp the Japanese cartoon. The fox is a kitsune, the raccoon is a tanuki. Both are shape=shifting tricksters.

I love Fleischer cartoons. Have you seen Bimbo's Initiation? Betty Boop lures a man into a Masonic club house IIt's so sad that couple lost all but 4 minutes of their work on that amazing cartoon. I watched a documentary about it a while back.

The Russian cartoon is by far the creepiest. I could see analog horror utilizing it pretty well.
