This Creo Parametric tutorial video shows how to create a pattern of instances along a 2D curve, where you can control the spacing between instances or the total number of instances.

How did you define Sketch 5? What did you use for the references for the sketch, seems like the references for Sketch 5 are important?

Same question here. How does sketch 5 need to relate to the curve?

What if curve is spiral around a cylindrical surface? Pattern is needed around cylindrical object.

I'm using Creo and when I make a curve pattern, the instances don't follow the actual curve. They follow a path that is the same shape and size as the curve, but offset by a significant amount. You can choose an alternate origin and get the preview dots to lie on the real curve, but the final geometry is still jacked up. I wish there was a way to post a picture in these comments to show what I mean. This makes this tool pretty much useless. Maybe it's just a bug in Creo 3? Seems like that would've been fixed before moving to the next version though... Any help would be appreciated.

Curve Patterns definitely got enhancements to address those issues since Creo 3

@@maximilianschmidt3373 even i am using creo 7 and the same issue happens, pattern instance got offset from the original curve.....any solution you got?

I was having the same problem as you and then I realized that it could be related with the position of the starting point of the curve. If you create a point at the starting/end point of the curve and then use it as reference to create the sketch you wanna use for the pattern you'll find that there's no longer an offset.

Thanks for the video, can the patterned object retain the same orientation and not follow the curve?

You can sue a linear pattern or a direction pattern

What if you want to create a hole pattern which its respective axis is perpendicular to a non-flat or free surface, following a curve? In my experience, I have to create the axis and respective hole one-by-one in order to guarantee that the hole is always perpendicular to the surface, which is very time consuming. Your insight on this would be appreciated :) Nice videos btw!

You should be able to do this with a Fill pattern using the Curve option and Follow Surface.

@@CADPLMGuy Yes, I know this way but still it does not work well in some cases. Surface design in Creo feels a bit limited when compared to CATIA for example, which has more specific commands for this kind of "non-parametric" features. Thanks for your comment!
