This design looks like a seahorse body to me, but without the correct head. I bet you could make that happen (or have you already in another video?) This is so pretty. I love the elegant swirly design. You're giving me more and more confidence to do some wire-wrapping myself. Thanks so much for sharing!

Fantastic as always❤ but Can i ask you How can we stablize the wire on the shape we wrapped other than knocking it with the hammer😅

Hi Joselyn, those are so beautiful ( as always ). I see almost a seahorse effect..I love anything that has to do with the ocean though. I hope you and your family are safe and well. Thank you for another wonderful video. I finally just ordered the bobbins ! , can you tell me the easiest way that you placed your wire on your bobbins ? Did you use a dowel ?
@FantasiaElegance
@FantasiaElegance 3 года назад
Thank you, Deby! I really appreciate how you always take the time to leave an encouraging comment for me :) I hope you and your family are well, too! Honestly I just wind the bobbins by hand and it's probably not the most efficient way, haha. I start the first wrap with a bit of an extra tail, and then try to capture that tail with the next few wraps to secure it on the bobbin, and then I just wrap a length on the bobbin, unwind more from my coil, wrap more on the bobbin, etc.

I'm glad you are well and cannot wait to get back to crazy normal. As soon as your video's pop up I am there., and it helps my mind a lot so thank you again ..can't wait to get my bobbins. Did you work harden your 20 gauge wires? Also, what did you use to apply the patina and how were you able to isolate the patina to just the woven portion? Thanks!
@FantasiaElegance
@FantasiaElegance 3 года назад
Hi Lyn! I did work harden the wires in the process of cutting the lengths from the spool. To see how I do that, you can check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xKq32391vYo.html I also have done a tutorial showing the technique I used for applying the patina to this piece, which you can view here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p6B6Qp3CKPk.html I actually just dipped the whole earring in the solution, because from my experience it's safe to do that with labradorite.

I just could not get this one but I'm not giving up on the rest of them injured my right hand that is part of the reason I can't kind of grip so but I'm still hopeful that I can still get it but until it heals this one is kind of complicated I'm sorry

If it is OK to inquire, I am in the process of making jewellery soon and I do have plans on selling what I create. How do I give credit to you or others that my designs resemble?
@FantasiaElegance
@FantasiaElegance 3 года назад
No worries! So I just ask that if you're selling something made with one of my tutorials that you put on the listing "Design by Fantasia Elegance" or something along those lines. If you want to be extra nice you can also leave a link to my RU-vid channel ;) Designs in my shop which I haven't done tutorials on should not be copied (that goes for any jewelry artist). Thanks for asking!

You really should credit Kelly Jones for inspiring you. A lot of your designs look A lot like hers with slight changes. If I am wrong I apologize. There is nothing wrong with being inspired as long as you credit them. I hope you don't take offence. I do like your channel and you are a very good teacher.
@FantasiaElegance
@FantasiaElegance 3 года назад
No, I am not offended, but I do feel the need to address this because I take artists' personal property rights very seriously. I would feel terrible if anyone copied my work without giving me credit, and so I want to be very careful that I never do (or appear to do!) it myself. I do find Kelly immensely inspiring, as do most in the wire-wrap community. She makes such beautiful designs and is just a lovely person. That being said, this and my other designs are all my own, and not copied from any of hers. This particular motif - two wires shaped into a crescent and swirled on the ends with a figure-8 weave filling the space between them - I came up with on my own back when I first started making jewelry. I have been using it in my designs (like this one, and my "Petunia" pendant tutorial that I posted back in 2019), for over 6 years, well before Kelly first started sharing her tutorials. For example, I used it on this pendant that I sold on Etsy back in 2014: www.etsy.com/listing/161567763/labradorite-pendant-necklace-silver-wire?show_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details . So you could just as easily say that Kelly "copied" that design from me, and I do see it's used in several of her designs that she's shared tutorials for on RU-vid (like this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0ZEQ0pJAQn8.html or this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n1BIFrCouAU.html ). Of course I don't believe for an instant that she came up with those after seeing my work and copied it from me - it's just a common motif in jewelry making. I think part of what you may be seeing similarities is that we both have similar tastes and aesthetics - elegant lines, swirls, etc, in addition to the fact that there's only so many different ways you can swirl a few different base wires around and only so many ways you can weave them together. So it's not uncommon for different artists' work to start looking similar to each other, even though they both arrived at their own design independently. Anyway, I do apologize for such a long post! Like I said, I adore Kelly and her work, and felt like I really needed to address this thoroughly. Thank you for bringing it up, because other people may have been wondering about it as well. I assure you that if I ever do make a design specifically inspired by one of hers, I will absolutely give her credit for that.

@@FantasiaElegance thank you so much for your reply. Like I said in my post if I am wrong I apologize and since I do seem to be wrong I do apologize. I saw a video from an artist called turtle soul in which she was very hurt and almost quit posting because people were using her designs without crediting her. I would hate for either you or Kelly to go through something like that. Again I apologize and hope that you will not let my misinformation spoil even a moment of your day. I do love your channel as you can see I am subscribed and will continue to support you in anyway I can. PS your response is outstanding. I expected to be verbally abused at the very least. Thank you for that.

I would like to comment on this by saying I have followed Jocelyn(spelling?) for 3 years and find her work so inspiring. I’ve only found Kelly Jones recently while they are both amazing in their own right, Kelly has mostly posted cabochon tutorials whereas Jocelyn has posted a variety . I really don’t see where she has copied anyone but I think you can see similarities in a lot of designs in all of the designers. It’s just the general way you have to build the pieces.I think all these artists really try to keep the designs original .. I think any of these wonderful ladies who post free tutorials are really generous in the time and patience to post for all of us eager to learn . I have seen blatant copying in some of these; such as artist copying the works of Lan Ahn and I pointed this out to her and she replied all her tutorials is posted for anyone to enjoy. This is just my thoughts on this , and I do feel the urge to defend these artist.. They have given me such wonderful knowledge. Thank you to all. Peg

@@robertlocke9531 I agree with everything you say. My intent was not to diminish her work or offend. As you can see I also commented that the if was wrong which I was i apologize. I also think she is s very talented and a great teacher that is why I watch her videos.

@Samantha Simental Yes, like I said, I am not at all offended. Design copying is a huge problem in the handcrafted jewelry community, so I always appreciate it when I see people trying to look out for the artists. I've actually experienced a bit of it myself, as I regularly have to submit copyright claims to RU-vid for people stealing my videos and reuploading them as their own. Thankfully they have so far been good about removing them promptly, but it's just discouraging that I keep having to go through extra work to address it. Thank you for the kind words! I likewise appreciated how carefully and courteously you worded your comments. You seem like a kind soul and we need more people like you in the world! (especially online)
