I installed a Recluse clutch in my DRZ400S. It works very well and saves my left hand. It requires adjustment once in a while. Whenever I jump on my old XR250R, I forget to pull in the clutch lever now!! Keep those boys ridding!!! One thing: No more engine braking down steep hills.

I have a recluse on my drz as well. I can get engine braking by just blipping the throttle while coasting downhill in the correct gear for the speed you are going. i.e. 1st or 2nd. The recluse will engage and give you engine braking.

Great content as always! I found out today that you can buy the clutch cover separately. Other than the bling factor without plunking down for the whole kit, this will give your engine a modest increase in oil capacity with the stock clutch. It's only about 100ml from what I can glean, but that's almost 10%. I do my oil changes at 1000 miles so I like the idea.

Mine doesn't like to go into neutral either with the rekluse. I bought my 450L used with the rekluse installed and the guy had it installed incorrectly. Had to put the lighter springs in the clutch disc thing otherwise it would pull forward too much. Overall I like it but it will still flame out blipping the throttle over obstacles sometimes. With vortex and yoshi exhaust. 8800 miles on mine and clutch discs still look great with a lot of abuse. Good video.

FYI. I also run the Rekluse and I removed the judder spring and replaced it with another full size fiber disc and now it's so much easier to find neutral.

After replacing the clutch cover, did the amount of oil in the engine increase?

Thanks, tons of work but with housing getting so stupid around here I don’t think I will be moving anytime soon so it will be nice to enjoy it for quite some time when it’s done

Great and interesting video! People will do the installs but dont go into as much detail in the results. Just wanted to say, if you wanted to post some videos on your basement work I'd be excited for it.

I might do a recap on some of the decisions I have made on my basement a long the way. It’s a lot to chew off but a video might help some people out, or help make people realize how much work it is!

The SDP install was interesting! Glad you got the issues worked out. The kit claims 26 HP+, which I find a stretch considering the slow processing speed of the Vortex. I'm wondering out loud if the SDP hard parts would work just as well with any of the other aftermarket ECU's such as the AIM and the GET....? Also, do you have any actual dyno numbers to share from stock form and then after the upgrade? I just did the GET and a full Graves and went from 32 to just barely 40 at the rear wheel. I feel like I'm missing something and there should have been more. Maybe the Hondas just don't make Yamaha or KTM power.....
