I have to chime in here. You are literally the only one on RU-vid that actually talks directly about whatever the title of the video is. Thank , thank you, thank you! You are informative, to the point without all the extraneous blah, blah, blah that quite simply just wastes everyone's time. Love your videos! Keep up the great work.
I am learning Silhouette for this reason. Many people design in it then cut with Cricut. It's free and you can upgrade for a one time fee. No monthly membership.
I just counted how many times I wished my maker would cut three times faster than it already does and surprisingly the number was... Zero. I see very little advantage for me to have a faster Maker, especially because it appears the three times faster is with Cricut “smart material”, so unless I trade the five or so miles of product I already have in stock, it will still be cutting at the old rate. They ought to have put more time and effort into fixing the issues with Design Space. BUT, kudos to them for their marketing! Good business
my maker is currently sitting in it's box for this reason. I HATE design space. I wonder if these new machines wouldn't cut any vinyl matless though. Like they said you HAD to use their blanks to use infusible ink which is totally not true
@@kellyhayes take it out the box and try alternate software. Inkscape (I find confusing) is free, SCAL 5 is good and Silhouette Studio (need to purchase business edition to save as svgs to use with DS -there is a coupon) is great software. I’ve just started using it and I just save as an svg then import to DS and basically use it to cut as my Maker cuts beautifully so win win 😄 Take it out the box and play 🤞🤞
I was so upset since I bought my Maker 3 months ago. But I can live without these new features. I can see if I was more of a professional needing bigger printing space that would be beneficial, but other than that, I agree, faster is not going to make me have buyer remorse.
@@jilliej7 which machine would be the best? Explorer 3 or the Maker 3. What are the differences other than speed? I bought the new maker but have not open the box yet because I’ve heard so many negative comments and I’m not sure which to buy. I also want to know what are the options for the software. I can’t afford to sign up and pay for software or stock right now…also, are you able to create your own art? I’m not sure what you call it…but I think it’s called art stock…does it come with these machines? Also…why can’t you other brands of material? Thank you!
Would be happy BUT Cricut truly needs to Solve Their Horrible Software Issues Including several upgrades as to being able to do several task including being able to actually create our own designs with ease. We would be happy to buy many of cricut designs. Cricut software is in need of major updates that will win many of us over... thank you love all your videos!
Hello ... I want to make textile patterns to design t-shirts or sweatshirts ... but obviously I need to be able to use the rotary blade in a length of 90 cm ... is it possible to configure the cutting area using 30 cm width x 90 cm long and for rotary blade? I know they say you should only use smart material, but what if I glue my fabric on top of the smart material backing ... will you let me use the rotary blade? Has anyone tried? Does the program enable the rotary knife if I choose material without a mat and set an area greater than the 60 cm limit it has? Please someone help me with that ... I urgently need the machine but I don't know if it's worth spending double for the make 3 and I'd better buy the old maker.
Thank you so much for this video. I have just bought a Cricut Maker 3 and have never used a Cricut machine before! I unboxed my machine whilst watching your video and I am so impressed with how well you have explained everything, thank you. I will subscribe to your channel so that I can get going with my machine even though I’m too scared to use it! ☺️ xXx
What?? 3 I didn't even know they had a new coming out! My husband just bought me a Circuit maker 😣. But, I do like the idea you don't have to use a mat or cricket marker 3. That's a plus.👏 But, the cutting time.. I did count the seconds and it was only 1mint and 30 seconds faster than cricket maker. 🤔 I don't think I have the need want to upgraded for now, for just 1mints 30sec faster. I think I could wait . Lol Thank for sharing 😁
Don't be disappointed in your purchase. The one you have is a great machine and really not all that different. Unless you want to do really long narrow cuts of up to 20 feet in a continuous amount the machines are not much different. For those who have an Air 2 it will be a big upgrade as they cut even slower than the Maker, but the Air 3 still only cuts 100 materials while both Maker and Maker 3 can cut up to 300 materials, but ONLY the smart vinyl is mat free. everything else including sticker paper, card stock, fabric and all the other 298 materials need a mat.
How refreshing it is to have a youtuber not blab on and on about unnecessary things. You get right to the point and explain things so very well! Thanks for putting out great content. Very helpful.
I was so irritated that I waited 2 hours for Cricut to go Live to announce the new machines, that I literally commented, “I waited for this?!” and logged off. 😂 I literally just bought my Maker last month so I couldn’t care less about new bells and whistles, but I am confused as to the necessity of a new machine since they marketed the Maker as the one that Cricut would simply add to and enhance so no other machine would ever be necessary again. Wish they’d tweak their software and just focus on creating more quick-swap tips. Maybe work on making tshirt blanks that weren’t garbage would be beneficial as well.
@@NCJoMamaSC I feel the same way! I bought the machine in December for my business and it’s been a nightmare to use so I barely use it these days. The software is atrocious unless you’re doing a simple cut. What’s the purpose of having a flat option if it takes 2 hours to read before it moves to the next step. So disappointed with this greedy company.
I just got a maker...hmm~ NOW 3?... Seems like just "faster cutting?".... Slow cutting~ It does not bother me so. I am O~~~K for now. haha Thanks for the video ^^
Yes I just got mine two last week. It doesn't look that it functions much differently but faster. I really don't have a need to cut out 12 feet of material. So, I'll stick with mine.
Is there a cricut machine that cuts bigger print then cut than 9.25 x 6.75? Or is the cameo 4 the o my one that can do that without slicing or any hacks in the cricut?
I make large wood signs for a living and I use a silhouette cameo 4 for that because I can cut stencil vinyl I buy off of Amazon that’s a fraction of the cost and I can cut without a mat. I wish Cricut would have came up with a machine that did what silhouette cameo 4 does with using your own materials. Cricut is being greedy with having everyone need to use the smart vinyl. Costs too much. Great video explaining everything though. I’ll stick to my silhouette cameo 4 for my business
This is off topic and I apologize for that. However, if you are doing stencils you should look into Ikonart. It is a way to make reusable stencils. No more wasted vinyl.
Thank you, you explained this so well. Believe it or not, this is the 3rd video I watched on the Maker 3 and you were the only one that said the faster cutting speed only worked if you were using smart material. The others only said that it cut faster so I thought everything was cut faster. Great information!!
New products like this make me want to wait before I get excited or think about buying them. I prefer to have the 'Woo-Hoo first day!"-ers be the mass beta testers so the bugs can be worked out. It also allows the off brands time to create compatible vinyl MUCH cheaper.
Mine is only about a month old! 😂 No wonder Cricut slashed their prices a month ago! 😂 I only bought because Cricut marketed the Maker as the only machine one would need because it was capable of being updated within the machine and had quickswap housing...
Thanks for the video, but what a pleasant disappointment the Maker 3 is. I purchased my maker earlier this year and was worried that I should have waited for the maker 3. Please correct me if I’m wrong, even with the smart material, I can’t cut anything wider than I can cut now with my maker (eg material is 13 inches wide but still cuts within the 12 inch parameter) - just longer, but what a waste of smart material to not be able to take advantage of the extra inches in width gained from not needing a mat. No extra speed when cutting with the regular materials...I agree with many other comments, the better effort would be in upgrading Design space and expanding the size limits for print then cut, etc!
Just brought the Cricut Make 3 for Christmas early gift from my husband bless him! So this video has been very helpful so thank you for explaining very thing so well!! Subscribed to your Channel...
True, this “announcement” was nothing short of a disappointment. Didn’t even make me raise an eyebrow (most likely because I was too busy rolling my eyes🙄😂)!
Boy am I glad I watched the entire video! I almost dug into my money jar to see if I had enough to buy the new one! but then you mentioned the faster cutting was for “smart material” only and it basically cut the same speed as the Maker on non smart materials! I don’t use Cricut materials so I guess no need to upgrade just yet from my original Maker, thank you for your videos. I always enjoy watching them!
I saw a video where they put a generic vinyl ... with the smart material configuration and it cut it without problems ... it is just a publicity stunt to sell their expensive vinyl, I want to buy 3 because it cuts longer ... I need make patterns for textile design of clothing ... but I don't know if the program allows me to configure; smart material, 90 cm long ... and if you allow me to use the rotary blade.
Thank you for sharing this video. I am brand new to cricut and have just bought the Cricut Maker 3. I still have it boxed up. I have been watching videos on the maker 3 and yours is an excellent video to watch for beginners. Again, thank you very much for your time in explaining the maker 3. Love that it is so fast. Wish me luck when I open and start making things.
Same here just got it yesterday from hubby I was going to hold off and do some research on them but I guess now I can start researching how to use it Lol
You always make the best explanatory video’s! Thank you! Could you do a video on fonts that explains the difference between single layer an$ multi layer fonts and when you want the different types of fonts. I get hung up trying to find the right font for doing the mugs and other materials because of this.
Yeah I agree with that, especially since it comes with no mats. I just upgraded from a cricut joy, to a maker ( not a maker 3, just the maker). The maker was $200 off its original price so I couldn't help myself. lol. But, I'm kinda glad I brought the Maker for now and not the Maker 3 in the end.
I think I'd need more of a difference to spark me to upgrade. I love the Maker and it has all the functions I need. It does seem that you would be locked into Cricut materials to really benefit from the improvements (It would be nice if Cricut provided a little more free access to their design content) Well presented and a great, balanced comparison between the two.
I was almost worried I invested too early in buying my Maker with this Maker 3 release. Glad to know there aren't any major differences that would effect my work heavily. Super cool features though!
There are a few negative responses, and I get that... But I am excited. I am going from the Explore (no numbers) to this new Maker 3, so I think I will find a huge difference!
@@AngieHolden I also wonder if you can use small amounts of vinyl or small projects with the smart vinyl. Say I have an image that is only 2x2 inches, will the machine even accept it or do you then have to cut on a mat?
Thank you so much for this clear explanation. I just got the 3 with 0 experience with Cricut and your video is the number 5 that I saw and is for sure the best explained one.
Hi, thanks for your video ! I am going to go purchase a cricut maker 3 tomorrow and I am new to the whole thing I want to be completely setup from the get go, what are the number 1 tools and accessories I need to add into my cart when I go and pick this up please :)
Thank you so much for showing the differences between the Maker and Maker 3. I just got my Maker so I’m not in the market for a new one yet, but it’s nice to learn about what’s out there. 😊
How lovely to see a comment from someone who isn’t bitter and angry because they’ve just bought a machine and are happy with what they have 😄 enjoy your machine
Hi Angie I upgrade from the cricut maker 2 to the maker 3 Personally I don't find anything better. I really don't find it any faster or that much better . Its not
Hello! Thank you for clear explanation. Very informative! I have a question though, can I also use materials that are non-smart? Example adhesive papers from some random shop i bought. Does that affect the quality or something? Cos I'm not sure
Great how-to video ☺️ I like to use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator to come up with my design instead of design space. I wish Cricut get in contact with Adobe to come up with better software as all major Corporations work with adobe. I will not get the new Cricut Maker 3 until all the bugs it's just like not buying a new car model until the car company figure out all the bugs. I love it if Cricut work on bringing out 24in instead of 12in and work on software issues. I love the idea of no more mat & cut faster but need a lot of work in design space.
Ohh I was so excited when I heard that a new Cricut Maker 3 came out...and is cutting 2xtimes faster.... but since it only does that with smart materials...I don’t see the added benefit to be completely honest. A real added benefit would have been if it would have done the same with all materials.
Thank you for your time. I just bought the cameo 4 bundle and am perfectly happy with my cricuit maker. Cicut should Fix the software and allow us to write our fonts at any size without the bubble words or hollowing out. Larger cut size area. Thank goodness can save my money.
Thank you for explaining so clearly the use of the machine. I have had my Maker 3 for a few months and now have some tome to start using it. I look forward to watching more of you videos.
This video is super helpful. I just got my maker 3 and haven't set it up yet. never even used a cricut machine before so lots of learning to do.Thanks for the content.
Angie, you well know this machine only really benefits Cricut and influencers. The machine only SMART MATERIALS,, STILL CUTS ONLY UP TO 11.5 INCHES WIDE, SO WHAT'S THE POINT?
I don't think this machine is for everyone which I state. If you are happy with your machine, then keep using it. The support for old machines isn't going anywhere. If you want the longer and faster cutting on smart materials, then this machine is for you. Either way, there is room here for everyone to have a machine they love. There really is no reason to make hurtful comments on my channel.
I’ve only had my Maker for six months and I love it (but not Design Space!) Will Cricut be making the the original Maker obsolete any time soon and down the line stop supporting/updating it, stop making mats etc, and is it likely that they will introduce new tools (excluding stuff like the roller that obviously only work with Maker 3) that we can’t use with our Maker 1s?
Angie I need ur help again. My maker 3 keeps squeaking every time I try to cut. Cricut had Me hold 2x’s each time I waited for over 3 hours before I gave up. And when I do call and get someone I can never understand the ppl that answer. I was wondering if u have any idea what’s wrong ? Thank again for any help you can offer. Btw the machine is about 2 months old now, the squeak just keeps getting louder.
I do not know sorry! I have seen people having issues with a metal piece coming up in the back. It was a defect and those machines are being replaced. Maybe try looking to see if there is anything sticking up in the back rubbing the mat as it cuts.
I literally just bought the Maker 3 for myself, having never purchased any of the Cricut products I am confident I will be pleased. I’m so excited!! Thank you for explaining what products I need to also purchase.
love ur video...im trying 2 figure out what cricket i want 2 purchase.....does the maker 3 do wood , leather ,metal or other materials???? and which 1 is better the explorer 3 or maker 3????
I just received my machine my question is what is for my business I want to know what you I need to print out my logo which is black background with pink too. I need different colors and how do I load it? Thank you so much for all your information. I really appreciate it.
I can't thank you enough for this video. I got a Maker 3 and it came with no manual. I am not a tech savvy person and I have been having the hardest time with a file I bought but I can't get it to be an svg file. I also had no idea there were so many blades. I am going to re-watch this and take notes. I know you can cut wood but I have no idea of the type and thickness. I need a manual that explains all the features and what they can do. Thank you again and this won't be the last time you hear from me. 🤗
I'm new to Cricut and I bought a cricut maker 3 today, I'm having a hard time learning how to use it, it's not cutting very well at all, it's fast but it's not cutting through for the iron on and barely cut through the smart paper card stock sticker... HELP
I just bought a cricut maker 3 a couple of weeks ago I'm kind of having an issue with pulling images off my computer and trying to get it to cut. Don't really know what I'm doing wrong I'm really new at this.
I love your videos, and they usually help me make decisions. This one is skewed though to be more accurate and really help us, the test should of been run with both of them using a mat. We already knew from what cricut has said that the smart materials cut fast, I would like to see how they stack up against each other with mats and like materials. Any chance you will be doing that? Keep up the good work, I enjoy watching your channel.
I'm brand new to cricut as are many people here. I got it because I have a need to cut cards and put precision scoring in them. I see that it needs to use a mat for other paper types. 1. Do I always have to start with a paper that fills the mat, or can I use already cut card stock (5x7 for example) and get the machine to score it for me? 2. I bought a light mat for paper, card stock etc. and stuck some paper to it... when I took the paper off it curled up in a tube shape. Is there a lighter sticky mat? or is it not actually good to use regular printer paper with it? Thanks, Rick
Hello great video! I'm a first time beginner my boyfriend bought me my first machine this exact one. Can you please help What kind of laptop can i use to set this up or can i use my andriod phone?
First, love Angie. She’s super smart and explains everything so well. I got the explorer air2 and for the 5 months I had it, I was so frustrated. I had to use a deep cut blade to get maybe half of the cuts come out good, never perfect. I thought it was me. You can imagine how much material I wasted and purchased. I did go and get a Maker 3 because I wanted to do the different things it did. And holy crap, it’s awesome. Problem for me, I couldn’t sell the explorer, I wouldn’t do that to anyone, so I wasted so much $. What makes me a little happy is when I purchase non Cricut brand materials 😏
What brand materials do you use or site do you recommend?? I have my Maker3 still in the box bc I was not sure of everything I needed to get for basic stickers and iron on.. Just bought a few rolls and stopped there and grabbed a weeding tool set..need to get transfer tape lol
I just bought the Cricut Maker 3 - I thought it would come with lots of other things in it but didn't. Unfortunately where I bought it they weren't very knowledgeble - what else do I need with it please?
Thank you for explaining everything so well and adding in all things we needed to know very helpful! Watched more than one video this one is hands down the best explained
HI, i have never used a cricut, of any type. I watched this video to try and understand the machine. Tell me, why would one choose to cut on a board if one does not have to? Just for background, I have used a Bobcat puma cutter for many years, but i sold it and now i need a new machine which is in this century!
I purchased the maker two days ago, I’m British and live in the Uk. I never knew about the maker 3?. Anyhow, I’m still trying to work out how to use the design space 🙈. Even with your videos it’s still mind baffling to me and turns my crafting into a frustrating frenzy. Also struggling with the iron on vinyl😩 wasted about £50 today on practising alone. I wish you could teach me one on one. What am I doing wrong.? Hellllllllp .
I've had The Maker since last March and totally love it....Angies tutorials have walked me through many a frustrating day getting to understand my machine/design space etc. As Loulou suggested practice with cardstock 1st (I still do as it helps you to see what it will look like when cut out without wasting precious vinyl) Always do a small test cut on your vinyl 1st to make sure you've got the right settings...I usually just print out a small heart from the shapes option and I can assure you it has helped save a load of wasted vinyl in the past. Good luck and enjoy getting to grips with Cricut 👍
This is a good review however i dont need a faster machine at this moment, what i do need its to be able to print and cut big projects and im trying to make it work with my cricut explorer 2 but im really considering silhouette and i will hate to have to change my cricut for a cameo 4.
I got the maker 3 today. I downloaded the cricut design app and clicked on new. My design pages looks totally looks different to the one you use. Why is this? Could it be because I live in Australia
😔 i justtttt bought the maker for my birthday and received it few days back. Would love to have an updated maker, although the most significant differences between the 2 makers are the smart materials (ie using without a mat) and also a faster cutting time. Sigh… hope that there won’t be any more differences in the future. Anyways, sending love from Singapore! Loving your videos as they are compact with information! Thank you for sharing
Why waste time filling the review with things like saying that the Cricut Maker 3 is written on the Cricut Maker 3 and it's a change from the previous model?
Yes!!!! Now, THAT would have been an announcement that got my attention! I’m waiting for them to release a mug/tumbler press that can accommodate more than a coffee mug...I feel like Cricut rushed a prototype to market just to test the waters...ummmm, yes, Cricut, there is interest...now give us the good Press! 😁
Just bought the Maker 3. This is the best starter video on RU-vid; I've watched MANY. The natural progression to features is perfect. Just when I'm wondering something, you start to cover it. Suscribed.
How much is the smart materials in comparison to the regular materials? The improvements are nice but for $400, I think they could have done a few more. This limits you to only using Cricut materials which to me, are more expensive and not the best quality compared to other companies. I feel like they should have spent that time on improving Design Space (massively) instead of making a new machine. The average person, such as myself, can't just run out and spend upwards of $500 on a new machine and new materials. But, Cricut wouldn't be raking in the money with improving Design Space like they will be with this machine.
Hello, if you could help me clarify. I can choose to use a mat with the cricut maker 3 but don’t need to, don’t need it for any material or blade use?? Thanks
I want to get into making my own shirts. I am totally clueless with the Cricut. Is it a bad idea for me to invest in Cricut Maker 3 with zero experience?
