I feel like I missed a step and I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. Once you put the overlay on, how does your machine know how to cut the correct spots?

Are you printing with a standard printer or sublimation on Sticker paper/vinyl

I have the hardest time when I use the holographic overlay...the sensors never pick up the lines to start the cut. Any tips?

Maybe try trimming the overlay so it fits within the sensor lines, so they aren't blocked? Let me know how it goes :)

I imagine it's a standard (plain) white self adhesive sticky paper

It is!
