After a two year hiatus we're back with more short form goodness. The quickies series is meant to cover shorter games or more experimental videos that didn't quite make the 10-15 minute cut of the usual stuff. Hope you enjoy!
I actually think Getting Over It is brilliant and I'm a big fan of Bennet Foddie. Doesn't mean I'll ever complete the game though. Nope.

He does sound really pretentious to me.. like the narration is meant to have a point and moral but to me it just sounds like a hipster trying to be deep.

I don't think he's pretentious, the game is just a repeat of the ideas that he had since QWOP and GIRP days. His only big point is just that getting the player frustrated and mad is a real game design choice that can be good, despite a lot of modern games avoiding it like the plague. The shittalking is just an accessory to achieving that.

I mean I get the point and agree to a degree.. but are devs really avoiding difficulty like the plauge? most include plenty of difficulty modes for all types of players. I dunno it just still sounds kind pretentious in this game. I'm not saying hes actually pretentious but the tone he takes givesme that feeling.

This game, from the premise and the little commentary in it I've seen, seems extremely philosophical... Or at least reminds me of those monks that make mandalas out of sand and then blow them away when they're done. It's like it's saying "life is hard, frustrating, and makes you murderously angry, and all you can do is breathe and not take it too seriously"

Think you should've saved Cloud Cuckooland for when he gets to actual Cloud Cuckooland. I think starting of in the Pit is a good Isle O' Hags, then Grunty Industries for the construction zone. But then, it's just a 6 minute video and Hank's doing the best he can.
