Yes, just using common sense while traveling anywhere is important. I did guess Rome. I actually thought Naples would be in the top 5, pleasantly surprised it’s not though! ❤

In Rome, I felt in danger only in one area - surroundings of the Termini Station. I had a bus leaving early morning from the side of the station. The area was full of drunk or even drug addicts, one became aggressive to people, the bus driver had to call the police as the situation could escalate into physical

Years ago after dinner in a busy touristy area my wife and I were walking in the direction of the Coliseum and I noticed on the other side of the street a large individual keeping pace with us and glancing over. I made eye contact so he knew I was aware and we turned back to the more crowded area.

Hi Valeria, do you live in Bologna? I am from Bologna but since 2014 I have been living in England and I have dual Italian-British citizenship. I came back to Bologna 2 days ago to enjoy a few weeks of holiday before returning to Manchester. If I can be of any help or if you would like, I am available to visit some places or for other activities :)

As someone in south Italy I see there are No southern cities on the list. Not surprised at all. I think you did a very good explanation, as even the most 'dangerous' cities in Italy are still not very dangerous. I mean that could be a top 5 by many people as to the Best Places to go to in Italy, especially amongst foreign travellers. So that says a lot. Also, I think it should be said that this list has a lot to do with where Illegal migrants, etc, go to. Anyway, very good.

That dramatic look! Have been to Italy many times and never ever had problems. You’ve got your own responsibility as a tourist. You’re not making any advertisement in this way. Why on earth you’re staying in Italy?!

We were hassled by migrant hawkers, in Pisa, who just didn't get the message until I had a very polite word in his ear that if he didn't F off he was going to need a doctor. In Rome however, in need of the WC, whilst at the whispering wall doing my business my bum pack was slit open. I felt nothing, it was my wife who, on my return to our table pointed out the damage.. Luckily I had nothing of value in it. Next time I'll carry a set rat trap in it!

Naples hasn’t been “The most dangerous” city in Italy, for a decade. There are a lot of out-dated stereotypes about Napoli, but in reality, it’s a wonderful, fascinating place. There are far more people who will help you than people who have any interest in hurting you. It’s no more dangerous than any other big city in Europe. I love Napoli with all my heart. Don’t knock Naples until you have tried it, and you should definitely try it 😊💙

@@msmilano7091 Napoli and Catania constantly have been in the top 3 of the most dangerous cities of Italy in the last few years. what are you talking about? 🤣 It depends where you stay in Napoli. Zones of Napoli nord are rather sketchy compared to others like Vomero, Chiaia, etc. and also the cities north of Naples, which make part of the metropolitan area of Napoli, such as Melito, Casoria, Caivano, Mugnano, etc. are considered ghetto / hood / dangerous.
@msmilano7091
@msmilano7091 27 дней назад
@@3-methylindole730 Like every single big city in the world, the centre and more affluent areas are safer. That isn’t exclusive to Napoli. It’s not perfect, (nowhere is) but Napoli is a long way from the place it was 15 years ago, and the people who have worked so hard to turn things around for the city deserve credit for that. Napoli has changed so much. It is still changing. It has been impossible not to notice. Napoli wasn’t even in the top 5 most dangerous cities this year. It was 7th or 8th.
@horaciomillan4181
@horaciomillan4181 6 месяцев назад
I think that the point is precisely which part of the city is dangerous. For instance Palermo, despite the fact huge portions of the historic centre are derelict is not so dangerous, though neighborhoods around are (I didn’t have bad experiences but felt uncomfortable in some). Naples is confusing and overwhelming, but even though it’s not rich, I felt perfectly safe (at least if you exclude the motor mess). Lonely areas can be dangerous anywhere, not only in Italian cities.

Making a video on the "most dangerous Italian cities" is like making a video on the "most dangeruos kittens" 🐈 and how even kittens can scratch you if you're not careful. Meow! 😊 Having said that, there is only one truly dangerous place where you really risk your life in Italy: *pedestrian crossings.* 🤣

I agree 100% just use common sense. Big cities all over the world are going to have some issues. Florence is incredible, my husband and I walked around till 1am in the morning and never ever felt unsafe. We've been to Milan and zero issues, but yes, I wouldn't hang around the train station at night. Bologna was the same, wonderful. I think Naples(surprised it's not on the list) has a reputation because it's gritty...trying to drive around is just plain stupid if you're not a local. Naples is not as sophisticated as other Italian cities, and definitely didn’t feel comfortable walking around late at night like in Florence. In Naples we did feel we had to be more cautious, not in the sense of "safety" but that cab drivers were going to up charge, or some restaurants in very touristy areas might charge more because we were tourists. The only time I feel unsafe...in the true sense of the word, is when we are back home in the U.S... and not at obvious places like a train station at night... it's places where one should not have to worry about safety... These statistics shouldn't count petty crime...

A few weeks ago, I was pick-pocketed at the Porta Portese outdoor market/ flea market, which takes place in the Trastevere section of Rome. i had a cross-body bag. It was resting on my hip. My hands were occupied, moving items on the vendor’s table. Was the vendor working with the pick-pocket, because he locked eyes with me and seemed to be angry because I had asked aquestion without saying hello. I thought that the bag was a good one, because it had a latch on the front that I fiunddifficult to open. The pick-pocket must have been very skillful to open the latch, which involves pressing two places on the sides of the bulky plastic rectangular latch. Unfortunately, once the latch was opened and the front flap was lifted up, there was no zipper. The inside compartments of the bag were exposed, and my wallet was right near the top,

Naples is scary. Gallons & gallons of paint are splashed all over the walls of this city & the men walking in groups through the town, look menacing. I was there in May 2023. Florence has never felt dangerous. Bologna has never felt threatening. Haven’t been there for 8-10 yrs though.

I've visited northern Italy many times, and experienced (minor) problems in both Bologna and Milan, such as drunks & junkies fighting, being aggressively pestered for money etc. But that's just the same as I see every day at my local high street here in the UK. Overall, I wouldn't say they're 'dangerous' places.

About Milan... i live in it. There's one thing to say: if you're for big cities (NY style), with a lot of opportunities, events, things to do, Milan is for you. Obviously it's like any other modern city, there's criminality, it can be degraded if you look close enough. If you look for a more calm, relaxed and historical location, Italy is full of wonderful and safer cities. It's all up to your personality afterall. If you want a metropolis, Milan

My non-Italian friends from Italy told me about an interesting phenomenon. If you want to live in a safe place, choose those cities where all profitable places are under the control of local people of honor. It sounds unusual, but it is logical. People of honor have invested a lot of money in hotels, resorts, restaurants, parks, etc. And they don't need financial problems due to the lack of tourists, including local tourists. Plus, in such cities there are very few emigrants who only interfere with tourists. Although bandits can rob and beat you anywhere. Austria is one of the safest countries in Europe and in the world. So what? I was robbed twice (the second time I was beaten thoroughly :)) in Vienna. A couple of blocks from the local police headquarters
