Honestly the last time I visited was in 2018 and witnessed a near fight between a young man and elderly woman on the subway. I have been wanting to come back but looking at the news everyday has not been inviting I don't think I will be visiting any time soon 😢

Suggested Democrat solutions to NYC crimes: Mayor Adams needs to deploy social workers to the NYC streets to advise criminals not to steal or commit violent crimes. Also, the City Council needs to pass a resolution requiring background checks for people carrying knives. And, post signs in the subways prohibiting people shoving other people into train tracks.
Today on 6 train there was a crazy black men trying to scare people by ponting pen at people and looks like he is 5 minutes away from stabbing someone or pushing someone but he got off on 96 St station. Everyone on that car was scared to death.I got off on 59th St station I tried to report this to a female black nypd who was about to go in the 6 train but she brushed it off and ignored me lol 🤷🏻♀
I'm not an American but plain common sense tells me that if something drastic isnt quickly done about the drug & gun use, the violence will esculate. Where I live (Europe), the subway and all public transport are the safest ways to travel.

Raising penalties ie "fines" only works on law abiding citizens. In my younger years I got caught up in the wrong crowd. Being raised up in a good military Christian family, I was completely surprised how easy it was to steal for a living and even me surprised I only got tickets...or at worse 1 day in a holding cell. I remember seeing all the letters threatening my credit for not paying my fines and threats to garnish wages and evoking my drivers license. Once I realized their was no actual physical threat to no driving with a suspended license or stealing... the world was my oyster. Hungry, well go to Sams and grab your groceries and walk out. Want fine dining, order, eat and walk out. Need a vehicle, every parking lot might as well be a car dealership. What changed me? Upbringing did. Just because I could, my soul did not agree I should. The easy life praying on others will eat at some. Most of the guys I hung out with didn't have that. They had ZERO remorse and really I couldn't imagine being in a world where everyone was like them. The first thing that got me to reconsider though was being stabbed in the hand by a pissed off owner of a car I was breaking into. The final straw was stealing a car that had been set up as a dialysis machine by someone who worked damned hard to make the best of their rough life. I drove back and walked away from life. That's when the fines and credit mattered. The moral of the story is criminals are only deterred by real physical discomfort be it a bullet or cold hard work camp. Number 2, having a good Upbringing assures that the roots of humanity are well established because witout that, there is no reform possible.
