@768PP Just as parents have a duty to raise their children to the best of their ability from feeding, educating, and teaching us right from wrong, we has adult children also have an responsibility and duty to take care of our parents in their old age if we are lucky enough to be with or near them to do so. It has nothing to do with gathering sympathy for elderly parents @768PP, its about reaching out to adult children to understand their responsibilities and duties towards our parent. Take this case for example. When Antara Ji's husband was unwell and having what I think may be something like a heart attack, what was she to do? Leave her seriously ill husband who was having difficulty breathing or call one of her two sons or daughters-in-law to call for help? I think you're forgetting that our elderly parents are from an older generation where there wasn't so much technology available at their fingertips... it was a time where if there was an emergency all they had to do was call out for help and half the neighbourhood would come running to see what was wrong and what they can do to help. This also has nothing to do with not saving enough when our parents were sill working or about making their adult working children their free slaves, but just asking their adult working children to spend a little time with them and help them with whatever they may need help with. Our elderly don't ask for much @768PP, they are only asking their children to spare five minutes in their day to talk to them, be that in person if they are living together or by phone if they live separately, to complete a simple task for them when they aren't able to complete those tasks themselves, and simply to love and care for them as they have care for us our whole lives! @768PP, please remember that you will be old one day too. Please think of how you would like to be treated by your adult working or non-working children when you old and unable to do so much for yourself before saying something so heartless. In this case, only one of Antara Ji's sons was working outside of home and her younger son and two daughters-in-law care for no one but themselves and she had been treated like a beggar in her own home... it this how adult earning and non-earning children should treat their elder parents? To me, this is how no child should treat their parents, elderly or young.
