Singapore is such a safe country, I stayed there for 12 years but never felt unsafe, but as Singapore police always say less crime does not mean no crime. I like the quote.

Remembered this so well. Came back from work around 4am and my block was swarming with police officers. The body at the foot of the block was actually inside the small drain. Saw it when they removed it around 9.30am. And till today, 13 years after the murders, the 6th floor unit is still empty.

I remember reading about this case in the papers. Apparently one time, the guy was locked in the room by the girlfriend and given a plastic bag to use as a toilet. That added to his humiliation, hatred and resentment towards her.

Moral of the story: Don't eat too many crabs, and remember to put fresh seafood in the fridge.

For cases as brutal as this, modern Crimewatch are not as scary as those from the 80s. Growing up, I remember how scary they used to be. The trailers alone back then were foreboding even for non-killing cases were scary enough.

I remember being traumatized watching this episode for the first time as a teen back then. Even worse, the lady falls off scared me the most! This is one of the most shocking cases I've ever seen in my entire life.

He might escaped if the neighbour didn't call the police. I guess it's fated. The murderer might have been pressured, or shamed on for sometime, that's why he snapped when found the rotten seafood at the kitchen.

As a foreigner, I always thought that Singapore is a very safe place to live. I experienced myself, while lived there in 1999, and 2011. Really love to live there. But this series open my eyes, I've never imagined there were lots of bad things happened in Singapore, just like the rest of the world.

Sometimes, it's not being a "busy body"; it's having compassion for your neighbor or for human kind. What would this world be like, if every single person was like the husband at beginning of video; where his wife voiced her concerns to her husband, but the husband just brushed it off his "its none of his business, he couldn't care less" attitude.

morale of the story, do not allow anyone to chainsaw open your gate. just pass the keys to the police. Zhang Meng is so selfish and vain. She only sides her daughter and didn't care about her boyfriend's feelings. Her boyfriend came all the way to Singapore just to be with her and didn't even mind that she has a daughter and have been taking care of them. He deserves someone way better. Listening to their conversations make me wanna laugh. So funny!

Singapore has a knife problem. The country clearly needs better knife laws.

What is the difference between ‘culpable homicide’ & ‘murder’. Anyway he had already killed 2 ppl, how would the circumstances surrounding Yang Jie’s death (be it caused by fall/murder) add or take away from his sentence? Deliberate killing of just one person is enough to warrant the death sentence. He wanna silence the other 2 ladies after killing his main target, of course he wanted the witnesses dead. His intention is to kill. How is that not murder? I don’t understand.

though this case was resolved but it is still heartbreaking to see so many deaths.. and we are being too safe by locking our front doors and gates.. in times like this we have to find keys to open the locks.. and then left with the only way.. that is to climb out of the windows...

His story about him and his wife having "consentual sex" is highly unlikely. Let's just go with statistics & the psychology of killers, psychopaths or serial killers. Many of cases like this, the murderer had either forced sex on the victim right before or during killing them, and some had intercourse with the victims body AFTER the killing rampage. It's a part of the humiliation they want to give back to the victim, for taunting & embarrassing him. But mostly, it's a form of dominance, to finally have "control" over the victim. The wife/victim already hated him by that point. The odds of her willingly sweet talking & enticing the man to have sex with her, is highly unlikely. He was probably just scared forensics would find seman in her, so he purposely came forward with the story that his wife had lured him into having sex right before he ended up going on a murderous rampage.

Imagine the following killers roaming around in Singapore: Ghostface, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Leatherface

Moral of the story do not be selfish and do not take people for granted

I just wanted to say thank you to the police: no enough justification for killing someone's life especially when there are so many death. He definitely deserved death penalty multiple times.

Always show the success of solving cases, why not show cases not solve and hoplefully those who watch may have some lead and help solve the unsolve cases, who know???

He came to her house, kicked the daughter to sleep in the living room, didn't contribute to the rent and made a big fuss about buying food? Chances was, he refused to leave because Zhang refused to lend him money. No daughter or son would like to see their mother be with a freeloafer. Probably tried to kick him out by making him pay for expensive food.

Next time just buy McDonald lah, don't need to buy seafood and the seafood so expensive but McDonald cheaper and so good better than raw food diet
