I remember when this was broadcast back in summer’98 I recall. God bless to Merlyn. Her strength. What she overcome. I even remember the original Crimewatch appeal in 1992. I truly hope she has had the best life possible since then. Last I heard she was working in victim support to help other survivors recover from equally brutal attacks
Merlyn is such an amazing, incredible and brave woman. Wayne should have got life without parole. He should be in jail for the rest of his life. His probably out now
You said his name is Wayne. The man who did that to that woman his name is Anthony Ferreira. He had 20 years well it happened in 1992 and he got sentenced to 20 years in 1993 So he would've did a year on remand So if he is out he would've got released from prison in 2012. Or he could be still in prison or he could be dead for all we know
@@AidaShawJ.D. Give @YJBBCCFC a break...they might be like me.. middle aged before Google & RU-vid existed. When there was analog clocks, sound and pictures. Film cameras! Your phone had a wire connecting it to all the other phones. Back when, if you wanted to know a fact, there were 3 options: 1. Go to a library. 2. Buy a set of encyclopedias or a book on the topic. 3. Ask around. I google of course. But sometimes I can't help asking in the comments. It's a social behavior type thing....like talking about the weather. Makes me seems stupid now but it used to make friends.
Did the editor of this episode not know how a crimewatch file worked, its so odd You've got a title card at the beginning instead of a voice over, then in the middle you've got Nick Ross saying one line and only two tiny snippets of interviews from the officers involved Its like all the elements are there for a normal crimewatch file but not put the show together properly
It came across like an early episode of ,'The Bill'. The guy playing DSI John Jones -Leonard Preston, was in one of my favourite 'Tales of the unexpected '. So it was a starring role for him. Personally I preferred the early Crimewatch Files. This is good, but too stylized for a CF.
I remember seeing this episode on TV as a young lad and always remembering it. The offender saying that he needed help and practically dragging the poor girl to the door, the emergency services response, the poor girl on the doorstep practically naked. Even the fact that the offender was black and it happened in Brixton, a stark reminder of what a rough place it was. This programme would not be able to be shown today because of race issues.
Why, because the BBC wouldn't want to see this as racist of them? To expose a black man as being a criminal? That's everything that's wrong with this country today compared to pre-2005ish.
@@thedeadstig123 And they interviewed the real witnesses & family, like episode # 31 Crimewatch File: Wanted, which was published in 1999. A year after this episode #28 Crimewatch File: Left for Dead. Strange? Maybe they had 2 production teams?
