It’s hilarious to me that it’s weird for you, to be honest. Bob was like Micheal Caine, the guy you automatically think of when you think of a Cockney accent.
That's because most of us grew up watching him in Roger Rabbit & Mario and he used an old school NY American accent, really really well I might add, so for us in America who just started watching his other works with his actual accent threw us for a loop 😅
Bob was made for these types of roles. It's a shame that his experience wasn't pleasant on this movie or he may have done many other fantasy roles. I still love this picture, despite its flaws.

I do love the 2023 animated movie. But screw the haters who say the 1993 live action movie sucks. This is one of my happiest childhood movies. RIP bob hoskins and Dennis hopper.
Hoskins was an incredible talent, Chris Pratt is just bland. The old Mario flick was a bit of disaster but it was fun. I'm a gamer but I'm not butthurt over someone of his age not understanding gaming. Gaming back then wasn't perceived as favourably as it is now, not by a long shot.
It's too bad Bob didn't live to see the original SMB movie come full circle to getting the love it deserved. Weird take, hella difficult production, but it just needed time, Bob.
