Now, I'm seeing brand comms in a new light. There's so much more to branding

Been thinking if Startups really value communications as roles. As a brand strategist and comms person I've been having difficulties navigating that space of selling my services or getting roles.

I think Comms is one of those roles that's often overlooked by startups but, it is such an integral part to building customer perception and loyalty

This is a very nuanced conversation. Yes, I don’t think most startups value communications as a standalone role-more often than not, Comms for a lot of people in this part is an afterthought. Many of the people who have comms teams are traditional companies who have stayed long and understand why it is important. Most startups have “Marketing (content, email, social media)” teams that second as comms. So, you are better off growing several other marketing skills and complimenting it with comms until the market matures enough to accommodate it.
