Selling empty crisp packets on ebay - the prices these are selling for on ebay is amazing. The crisp and confectionary collectors market is a niche that's well worth exploring. People will pay a lot of money for a rare sweet wrapper, empty crisp packet or anything nostalgic from their childhood...

I can 100% tell you that Corporate Advertising agencies collect this , frame them and have them displayed in corridors of their buildings . It costs them nothing because its a tax right off. Its a game but also history . Great video.

A few years ago whilst whilst doing some restoration on an old railway site at Honing I was digging out the base of the old signal box and discovered a golden wonder crisp packet. I took it home and cleaned it and to my surprise it was dated 1967 Beef and onion flavour and a promotion to win and triumph herald estate car. I have it framed and what is most astounding is how it has survived the elements all these years. This could end up being a new craze where people will be purposely digging old rubbish sites for crisp packets, how amazing.

I remember every one of these except the Tudor Chocolate ones, otherwise I've munched them all. My absolute favourite were the Smith's Cheese & Onion Square Crisps. At school in the late 70s/early 80s a 6p bag of Footballers Crisps where everyone's go to bag to chomp. We'd have competitions to see who could get the most in their mouth without them crushing, then invariably someone would get a slap up the chops and they'd fly everywhere. The artwork was always of its time. Just think going forward, choose some decent artwork packets, munch the crisps, flatten the bag and stash for a few decades. It takes up no space, so worth a small punt.

Back in the late 70's early eighties i worked for a plant repair company (tractors etc) and we went to an industrial tip where we were to fix one of their machines , i was stood on a very large mound of something and one of the site workers came over to me and said do you know what you are standing on (bit of a panic) they were wear'em scrar'ems from tudor crisps .There must have been 100k + and now i wished i had picked them up and filled my pockets

We had a Smiths Crisps factory in Paulsgrove near Portsmouth. You could smell them as you drove by. I remember the packets where you also had to empty the salt on from a little blue twist paper inside the pack back in the 60’s!

The £80 “buy it now” empty unassuming crisp packet was most probably listed and bought by the same person or syndicate known to each other, it’s basically small scale money laundering which is rife on eBay and goes under the radar because of the smallish amounts involved but when they are cleaning £1000s of pounds a day with hundreds of listings it’s easy, there are examples of these ridiculously priced “sold” items all over eBay if you start looking 😀👍

I remember back in around 2005 (ish) the ring road was being dug up in Huddersfield town centre and next to a pile of dirt a work man had put an intact empty bag of 'Ringos' from early 1970s on a wall with a small stone on it. wish I'd have grabbed it now! It obviously was buried when the road was made in 1971. Possibly a snack from a former road worker?

Oh my this is a blast from the past! I remember some of those crisps from my schooldays. When we were decimalised I remember crisps being 5p a packet, I have a vague memory of hedgehog flavour crisps, but I reckon they were Walkers or Smiths. I scoffed so many packets of prawn cocktail too. Pickled onion Monster munch were the bees knees. I live in Australia now but came back to visit the UK before Xmas and was happy to find pickled onion Monster Munch still available. Naturally I pigged out on all things crisp related not available in Oz!!

Smiths Crisps have made a comeback - ready salted, salt & vinegar, cheese & onion etc. Walkers owns Smiths, but seems to have a strange handling of it - even Salt & Shake is now branded as 'Walkers' but other retro crisps like Frazzles and Chipsticks are branded Smiths. The new old-style 'Smiths Crisps' are much like normal Walkers crisps, and I guess are more of the budget end - maybe Walkers needed a lower priced competitor to supermarket own-brands.

My ex-husband was from the North East. The first time I ever went up there, he kept telling me how good Tudor crisps were, much better than any we could buy down South. Nick, I had hoped to see some crisps packets from my youth. I was born in 1950. A bag of crisps was a special treat back then. Smith’s is the only brand I remember. They came in a vast array of flavors as long as it was plain. But each pack contained a little bit of salt twisted up in a blue piece of paper. So you could add salt if you wanted! Big Big money in old food packaging and food items. I have visited a few places where they have old food packaging in a vintage look shop/store. I used to do house clearances and all the foods and packaging would just get bagged and binned. Some of the deceased estates I have cleared were amazing, Obviously if I was in the know back then I would of kept alot more than I did. Some of the items you would find in the pantry would be still sealed with an expiry date of about 10 years prior, but back then it was just gone off food. Not knowing that now 20years later that someone would want to buy a sealed tin of beans from the 70s and pay good money for them :)

Wasn't one I enjoyed, but had the odd bag back in the day. Even then it was so trying of a flash-in-the-pan novelty flavour. Tasted more peppery to me, with a hint of chicken.
