Here’s our take on Crispy Honey Chilli Potato - the perfect party appetiser. 😍Fulfil your Indo-Chinese craving with this recipe!! 🤤 This is a classic Restaurant style Honey Chilli Potato dish. Easy to make Potato starter at home.
Crispy Honey Chilli Potato
INGREDIENTS :
Potatoes - 5 -6 Nos Cut into fries
Salt for parboiling - 1 tsp
Water for parboiling
DRY MIX :
Corn flour - 1/4th Cup
Salt - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4th tsp (Correction - Please use 1/4th tsp pepper powder instead of 1 tsp.)
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
WET BATTER :
All purpose flour (Maida)- 1/2 Cup
Corn flour - 1/4th Cup
Salt - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/4th tsp (Correction - Please use 1/4th tsp pepper powder instead of 1 tsp.)
Oil - 2 tbsp
Water - 1/4th - 1/2 Cup as required
FOR FRYING :
OIL
SAUCE MIX :
Soya sauce - 1/2 tbsp
Tomato Ketchup - 1 tbsp
Red chilli sauce - 1.5 tbsp
Corn flour - 1 tbsp
Water - 1/2 Cup
FOR SAUTEING :
Oil - 2 tbsp
Garlic - 4-5 Cloves chopped
Ginger - 1 inch chopped
Green chillies - 4-5 slit lengthwise
Spring onion bulbs - 4 nos
Onion - 1 no sliced
Capsicum - 1/2 sliced
Sugar - 1 tsp
Salt - as per taste (Add very little salt as the sauces have salt in it. Salt can be adjusted later if required.)
Pepper powder - 1/4th tsp
Water - 1/4th Cup (THIS IS OPTIONAL. ONLY ADD IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT SAUCY.)
Honey - 3 tbsp
Spring onion greens
Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
GARNISH :
Spring onion greens
Sesame seeds
METHOD :
• Cut Potatoes into fries.
• Rinse in cold water thoroughly to remove all the excess starch
• Add cut potatoes to hot boiling water. Add salt & parboil for 5 minutes
• Once done keep it aside.
• Make a dry mix with corn flour, salt, pepper powder & ginger garlic paste.
• Coat potatoes with this dry mix.
• In a separate bowl make a wet batter with all purpose flour (Maida), corn flour, salt, pepper powder, oil & water.
• Add water in batches to avoid lumps & make a thick batter to coat the potatoes.
• Now coat the dry mix potatoes with this batter.
• Fry the coated potatoes once the oil is hot, on a medium flame till they turn a light golden colour. The potatoes will stick to each other while frying. They can be easily seperated once cooled down
• Fry in batches so as to not overcrowd the oil
• Rest for 5 minutes once done
• Meanwhile increase the heat of the oil to high
• Once the oil is hot, add the fried potatoes & flash fry for a minute to make it super crispy
• Remove the potatoes once done and keep it aside.
• In a wok add oil.
• Once the oil is hot, add Garlic, ginger, green chilies, spring onion bulbs
• Sauté & immediately add sliced onions, capsicum. Mix in.
• Add salt, pepper & sugar. Saute for 2 minutes. (Add very little salt as the sauces have salt in it. Salt can be adjusted later if required.)
• Add the sauce mix & water (WATER IS OPTIONAL. ADD ONLY IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT SAUCY)
• Cook the sauce for a minute
• Add the fried potatoes. Mix in & switch off the flame
• Add honey, Spring onion greens & sesame seeds. Mix in
• Garnish with Spring Onion greens & sesame seeds
• Serve Hot!!

Correction in the video - Please use 1/4th tsp of pepper powder in the dry mix & wet batter instead of 1 tsp as mentioned in the video.
