I love Blue Velvet and Saint Omer! So far I've picked up: His Girl Friday (1940) dir. Howard Hawks Céline and Julie Go Boating (1974) dir. Jacques Rivette Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) dir. John Cameron Mitchell Holiday (1938) dir. George Cukor sex, lies, and videotape (1989) dir. Steven Soderbergh Inland Empire (2006) dir. David Lynch I'm definitely hoping to grab around 10 more titles before the sale is over

Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid is the release of the year. One of Peckinpah’s most underrated movies next to Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia.

Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is one of my favorites! Particularly the final preview cut that comes on blu-ray. It's got a rough look but more authentic edit imo

I also picked up The Victim of Sin, but also got I am Cuba, and Peeping Tom. Still have to watch the last two, but the best pickup I've had so far, and in a LONG time, was All that Money can Buy (aka The Devil and Daniel Webster) - Wow! Absolutely wonderful!

Got three on order: Secret Sunshine, Tie Me Up Tie Me Down, and Trainspotting Blue Velvet is in my top 5 films! Looking forward to the review

If you’re a Peckinpah fan, I’d also recommend checking out Kino Lorber. Last year, they released new 4k blu ray transfers for his Steve McQueen rodeo drama “Junior Bonner” and the Warren Oates Mexico crime odyssey “Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia,” which I always preferred a little bit more than Straw Dogs.

Just picked up days of heaven, daises, thin red line, 8 1/2, Barry Lyndon, the graduate, and portrait of a lady on fire 💪🏼

Nice haul! I grabbed Polanski’s Macbeth, Blow Out, Le Cercle Rouge 4K, Double Indemnity 4K, Dazed & Confused, and Blood Simple.

I ordered, Heroic trio, La Haine, Risky Business. Going right now to pick up 1 of them, the others are going to be shipped

I saw Beauty and Bloodshedd on my library channel. Amazing and sad documentary. You are in for a ride with Victims of Sin. Great noir Spanish film. I saw Blue Velvet but some of Lynch’s films start off linear than go way left 😄. Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid is one of my favorite westerns. Great pickups.

So far I picked up To Die For and Wanda on Blu-ray. Days of Heaven is a great and beautiful film. I don't have a 4 k TV or player yet. But I am getting Picnic at Hanging Rock 4k to have it on all media formats including digital as I'm a big fan of this film.

Cool pick ups! I thought Saint Omer was fabulous, probably my second favorite film of that year.

i got to see Days of Heaven at the Egyptian in Hollywood last December. amazing to see on big screen. been a fan of Dogfight since i saw it on cable back in early 90s. always loved the cinematography in it. nice pickups dude.

I was going to purchase Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid but I ordered Thelma & Louise and pre-ordered Risky Business bot on 4 K. I’m having them shipped free to save gas.

Great first haul. I've picked up The Others and Dogfight so far. I'm looking forward to Bound and Girlfight. Not sure what else I might pick up.

I also got Blue Velvet and picked up Werckmeister Harmonies.

Happy 4th James and I hope you enjoy those great titles. One newer release I'm anxious to get is "The Runner". Based on the trailer and reviews, it looks like a great one.

These are the Criterion movies I got on July 50% off sale. for $532. To Die For, Thelma & Louise, The Roaring Twenties, La haine HATE, 100 Years of Olympic Films (Includes Tokyo Olympiad), Rebecca, David Lean Direct Noel Coward (4 movies: In Which We Serve, This Happy Breed, Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter), My Own Private Idaho, Passion of Joan of Arc, The Heiress, Woman in the Dunes, Badlands, Targets, Romeo and Juliet, After Hours. Some others I found online for free so returned those (Anatomy of a Fall, Summertime on Hulu). 8 of these were cheaper or available on Amazon when out of stock on B&N.

I picked up Come and See. Saw it a few years ago and it was traumatizing. It’s the only movie I’ve had to stop and come back to later because it gave me a panic attack.

I’ve done an order on Amazon as I’m UK based so cannot order from barnes and noble, wish I could shop the sale in store, ordered Millers crossing, the Jaques Tati boxset, 4 months 3 weeks and 2 days, fantastic planet, the graduate, blue is the warmest colour and Eric rohmers six moral tales

The Days of Heaven 4k is gorgeous! It was my first watch of it so it was quite the experience.

You must be disappointed that the Pat Garrett movie didn’t come with a thick stapled booklet. Does that mean Days of Heaven and Blue Velvet blu-ray giveaway is forthcoming?

Hi James. Just want you to know as I'm watching the video, that when you move away from the mic, your voice gets much dimmer. It comes in nice and strong when you're right on top of the mic but when you pull back, it gets much softer. Anyway, enjoyed your pickups. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get Victims of Sin. And didn't know anything about anatomy of a fall and when you said it was a French movie, I went and looked at the trailer and now I want to get it very much. (Update: bought the DVD edition) And Pat Garrett, I think I'll get the blu ray edition. I'm not set up for 4K UHD.(Update-my B&N didn't have either Victim or Pat Garrett in stock) Also, am thinking of All that $ Can Buy. And lastly, I hadn't realized that Criterion has issued The Red, White and Blue Kiesslowski movies individuallly now, separate from the box. Interesting. Did you know that? Anyway, Happy 4th!

But I did get a good bunch. 4K I got Blue Velvet, La Haine, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, Wings of Desire, Lone Star, Risky Business, Perfect Days, and The Roaring Twenties. On standard blu I went for The Underground Railroad.

Solid picks, James. I went a bit crazy right out of the gate with this sale. My haul so far: Peeping Tom 4K Blue Velvet 4K Lynch/Oz -- a Janus Contemporaries release To Die For 4K Bound 4K Dogfight Victims of Sin All That Money Can Buy Story of Floating Weeds/Floating Weeds Werckmeister Harmonies 4K La Haine 4K I Am Cuba 4K Pat Garrett 4K -- final holdout of Peckinpah films to be released on Blu-ray. Now my collection is complete 😀 I also want to upgrade to the Days of Heaven 4K and Le Samurai 4K and possibly get Perfect Days 4K. I think that's all and I'll get the rest of my list along with those added from what comes out in August - November for the next Criterion Flash Sale and the November B&N sale 🙂

Do you own The Wild Bunch and Ride the High Country? Definitely Peckinpah’s two greatest films.

I really hate digipacks, partly because of the very problems you had there with the discs falling out but also because they're not durable when getting bumped & rubbed on the shelf. I'm all for conservation of materials but blu-ray cases aren't throw away packaging, they're meant to last forever. I can't get over the irony of seeing a digipack covered in cellophane that'll get trashed and stay in a landfill for centuries while future historians are handling the digipacks with extra care because they're deteriorating.

What was the first criterion you ever got? Mine was life of an aquatic.
