I am glad I come cross this video. My mostly friends belongs to tassawuff and I was discussing these matters with them. First they have very wrong interpretation of Quran and about Prophets. He said the same thing as Ghamidi sahab mentioned that these sufi wrote in their books. They have their own concept on Jannat and their all sufi has blood relationship back to Hazrat Ali RA. I was telling them the same thing how can you have hightest rank than prophets?. And how you can have different jannat than what Quran says and Prophets told us but he said the same that this is for normal people. I can't believe Ghamidi sahab explained the same points. hats off to you Sir. I am even more clearer than ever and more louder than ever that sufism is parallel religion and it has nothing to do with Quran and Prophet MUHAMMED PBUH rasalat. Jazak Allah al akhair

Looks like an old lecture of Ghamidi Sahib. He is probably the best Islamic scholar of present times. Don’t know whether he has any change in his views since the recording of this video. His approach is the most rational. Being a rational person myself, I like him very much. The problem though is that as soon a person grows spiritually, the first realization dawns that the intellect, rationality and mind are created to help us live effectively in this reality called life. They are not effective in experiencing other unseen realities. Mind is nothing but a tool like eyes, ears, nose to sense and perceive the world in a certain way, human way. The reality is beyond the seen world. Quran defines the believers as those who believe in the unseen. What the unseen mentioned in Quran 2:3 means? Allah. One cannot see Allah with human eyes even though he is nearer to man than his jugular vein (Quran 50:16). Mind is the barrier between our human self (or ego) and our soul. Sufi practices which are aligned with Quranic concepts like Ihsan (perfection), sacrifice, forgiveness and repentance (Astaghfaar), as well as rituals like prayers, zikr, salat and fasting attempt to silence the mind. If a person is able to quiet the mind, he or she can feel the soul which is our connection to God or the Unseen.
@@justmohsin Good thing is that Tasawwuf is parallel to religion and not against it. What this means is that one could still follow religion while being a Sufi. This is proven by the lecture itself since he has quoted from renowned and well read Muslim scholars who were great religious teachers as well as sufis.
@@TM0425 But Islam based on Quran o Sunnah and we get it directly from Prophet Muhammad PBUH. At that time the full Authentic Hadith knowledge was not compiled that is why 4 great imams issued same fatwa that if any of their fatwa goes against Authentic Hadith then throw our fatwa on the wall and follow the authentic hadith because they themselves based on Hadiths and they didn't had all the hadiths because the companions of Prophet Muhammad PBUH spread out on different locations. Later imams like Imam Bhukhari, Imam Muslims , imam abu dawood etc done great work to compiled them. But this knowledge was compiled on later stages and in authentic Hadiths as well as in daef Hadith you will not find sufism concept at all. Sufism itself based on personal experience and by scientific facts your experience is different than my experiences we are humans but different individuals the simplest example is you may say half glass full and I would say half glass empty but in Islam the glass is full and completed. You can't add or subtract anything from Islam and your personal or my personal experience doesn't has any value in Islam. Even if you study tassawuf you will see there is already different groups who disagree with each other on many things. The Truth is Allah is one, he made one religion and he sent last one prophet PBUH to who we should follow. The great 4 imams said themselves you cannot disagree with Allah and his messenger but you can disagree with anyone. You can disagree with me I can disagree with you but I haven't compiled any of sahih hadith and I am not author of it but if I read Hadith of Prophet PBUH and some scholar, imam, sufi said something else I will follow Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Obey Allah and his Rasool PBUH. may Allah guide you people. Ameen

One just wonders about Allama Iqbal's "Quran fehmi" on one hand, and eulogising sufi aspect in his otherwise sky high literary poetry. Will this pollution be ever purged out of Islam before QIAMAH! The impression is, with tasawuf's deep roots it will linger on forever. May Allah bless you Ghamadi Sahib.

No brother it is original audio this lecture is from 1980s on ordinary microphone that’s why it feels like this but audio is clear just a little wof noise in the background anyway just a reservoir of knowledge

Tasawaf aik dean nahi ha .... Dean wohi ha jo Rasul e Pak na Quran o Sunnat ki shakal mein dia ha.... Yeh Ghamdi Sahib confuse ker raha hien. Mein na b ankh tasawaf ka mahol mein kholi ha aur Quran o Sunnat ko hi apni base rakha ha magar shariat ko follow kertay hoaya b bohat say haqaiq daikha aur moshahaday b kia magar at the end of the day we have to reach Allah via Radool ul Allah. Ishq make this journey quicker. Iqbal is prime example who keeps both side by side. Ghamdi Sahab is a very good scholar but could not reach the level of a sufi unfortunately. This is something which is decided by Allah Subhana Tallah.

This is a detailed account of his study on how Sufi practices were adopted in Islam. He has spoken about it in other lectures as well. I cannot give you a word to word translation of this lecture but I will certainly give you a brief account of his views on Sufism. Please keep in mind that this account is "my understanding" of "his views"..... ======================================================= THE ULTIMATE QUESTION OF MAN: What is the purpose of life? Why are we here? Where are we going? Humans have sought answers in THREE types of traditions/methods..... METHOD ONE: Man used his intellect to answer these questions -- philosophy is born. Philosophy has a history spanning over more than 2000 years. METHOD TWO: A tradition emerges in the Indian subcontinent where it is believed that "the self" can open the door to all answers i.e. the outside world is the physical world but there is also a universe that exists inside of us. If we somehow unlock the secrets of our own self we might be able to reach where the divine self is located and experience the ultimate reality. Practices, meditations and chantings were developed overtime to unlock the secrets of the self, purify the self, travel through the self and reach reality/answers. The most prominent figure in this tradition is Buddha. The crux of this tradition is that the only real reality is God (which is also known as the Higher Self), all else is just illusion. This tradition considers “our body” as an obstruction in reaching the reality. Therefore they focus on "minimizing the body" by opposing all material desires to a point where the body no longer is an obstacle in connecting with the real reality. METHOD THREE: A third tradition emerges in the Middle East where a supernatural being (God/Allah) himself makes a contact with humans and tells them answers to all questions -- Abrahamic faiths are born. In Islamic tradition the scholars who created a patchwork between philosophy and Islam were known as "Mutakalimeen". They gave birth to Ilm-e-Kalam or 'scholastic theology'. Similarly the scholars who created patchwork between Islam and religions of the "self" were known as "Mutasawifeen" and they gave birth to Islamic Sufism. This scholar in the video also belongs to a Sufi family as his father was a Sufi Master of Junaidia Order himself. He received his early education in Islamic Sufism and rose to a position where he began teaching the key texts of Sufism to others. He also claims to have tasted all the wonderful experiences Sufism has to offer. But later on he came to a conclusion that Sufism and Abrahamic tradition are poles apart. He now considers that all the Sufi experiences and wonders are nothing more than gimmicks of the self. At one point he compares Sufism with "dreaming on steroids". All the voices of God that you hear during meditation and souls of the prophets that you meet are nothing more than "elaborate dreams". You may even perform miracles or predict the future accurately with your mind powers but again that is just an art and wonders of your inner self that anybody can learn. According to him the only correct path to reach God is through METHOD THREE that has been taught to us by God himself.

It is extremely unnerving that, Allma Iqbal, accepted, rejected and then practiced WahdatulWjood till his last breath. Should a Muslim relinquish Quran or accept Allam Iqbal no more than the best of Persian / Urdu poets and no more? No sane person can afford 2nd opinion after this video.
