Some things I forgot to mention: 1.) Cold weather is an issue with all batteries on any bike / car / phone / camera etc. I hope you all under that this wasn’t a problem exclusive to Forestal. Cold weather affects all batteries in anything. 2. I mentioned about how I like e-bikes with the convenience of being able to remove the battery from the bike to charge it inside at night. But if you buy a really nice bike, who doesn't keep it in their bedroom???? haha. 3. Forestal is ever evolving this whole system and making it all backwards compatible with existing bikes. They are offering new batteries that are much more efficient with revised power modes, software updates improving everything and an upcoming range extender. You can see some of that news here. It's very cool to see the brand refining everything and making all existing bikes better and not forcing people into new model but rather helping current bikes work even better.

I was about to let you know about the new battery and software updates upcoming :). So great you mentioned it! Also important that people after a long range beast should not be looking at these if not happy to ride in lower power modes. I have a Firestal Cyon Diode and love it!

@@nickparki Hey! I was looking anywhere but couldnt find anything about the aurora range extender. I really want to buy a syrion/cyon diode, but im scared about the range. How far can you go with your firestal cyon diode? Are u able to use it without a battery?

The problem with these light ebikes is most people want that turbo feel but have such a small battery. Also I can see these motors failing quicker as people will be in turbo most of the time wearing out the motor quicker.

I was actually really surprised how powerful this e-bike was with 250w of power and 60nm of torque coming from the Eon Drive motor.

Loam wolf did a review with the siyron and the main issue was the motor overheating caused major power loss

I have a 18 kg Orbea Rise. I'm almost never in Turbo Mode. I personally don't see the need for all that power. But of course different people (fitness level etc.) have different needs.

Thanks for that feedback. I’m always trying to improve and definitely didn’t mean to come off that way. I always give an honest review. But one thing I’ve learned is that it’s hard to have a complete opinion on something after one or two rides. So much of how a bike rides is personal preference. I definitely need more time riding this bike before I can say anything about it with certainty.
@mece700

@@JaredHoff that’s fair however what I get from it no matter that you were not willing to say it yet. Its overpriced, bad design not removable battery so you cant charge it in your home with unwanted futures like the touch screen. The freezing weather affects range that is normal however if you cannot remove the battery to charge it home isn’t that enough of an argument to fault the product as it’s unusable in the winter for most people who doesn’t have heated garages?

I own one and I was told by forestal not to use the nitro mode unless you’re going through some steep changes and I ride my bike in eco most of the time with an occasional sport mode and sometimes race but vary rarely in nitro unless its rocky . I love the feel of my bike over my friends trek rail or any full power bike but I think as technology evolves with better batteries,keeping it lightweight is nice . At least for me. Go easy on that motor though dude, no need to do that to any ebike.
@JaredHoff
@JaredHoff 7 месяцев назад
For sure! I’ve been riding it more now and eco mode is the way to go. How does your display screen look? Mine has small little icons making it hard to tell which mode I’m in, but this is a demo bike from Worldwide Cyclery so it won’t let me access the app.

My Trek Fuel EXe took a few rides for the battery to "break in." I was getting about 16 miles out of the battery for the first few rides. Now I can get about 25 miles out of a battery, but that is riding in low or medium most of the ride. I rarely use full power (only for mega steep pitches). 25 miles is plenty for me when I'm riding near home. I'll probably get a 2nd battery to swap out for when I'm on trips to places like Squamish where I'll put in 35+ mile days in (which I could with my old YT Decoy). I definitely prefer the light weight e-bikes. Feels more like a normal bike and all I want out of an e-bike is to give me a little extra power to help me ride multiple days in a row without bonking.

Interesting 🤔 Cold weather is an issue with all batteries on any bike / car / phone / camera etc. so I’m pretty sure that was the issue. But I’m excited to see how this bike performs over time

@@JaredHoff Never had any issues with my Spec Kenevo SL in the cold (maybe a few miles less range, when it was snowing and -5 outside, but nothing drastic).

Oh here’s some battery life I’ve experienced so far, I do 13.8 to 14.5 miles and still have 30 to 20 percent left but I ride in eco and sport to do climbing.

Looks like a really cool bike. I prefer the full powered e bike. I got a canyon torque on e 2024 free ride e bike recently and it has a 720 battery and can take a 900 battery too. 180 travel mullet. $4800 Black Friday sale with the EP8 motor. Those light weight e bikes with the fatzua motors have a lot of issues. I say stick with the N8 E. If money is no object then hey why not.

the lithium ions slow down in cold weather and range will drop significantly. buy a neoprene downtube cover that helps keep the battery warm in cold weather.

Nice bike but for that price should come with SRAMs newest drive train t-type transmission! Also testing mileage on flat asphalt is not real world. I bet this bike gets close to only 15 miles on the trail. Bikes like this are good for people 150 pounds or less. I’ll stick with my full power Trek Rail

Nice bike but if you ask me Canyon has the best ebikes on the market for price to performance and components ratio also at 14.5k is just ridiculous and part of the reason the industry is failing apart even at discount 10k is just to much for the average person to afford also that battery performance is garbage 🗑️

I got ten miles pedaling in full power mode and had over 50% battery left. This time of year, rideable trails are 1.5 hr drive from my house. A lot goes into making these videos. Riding the paved trail was a quick way to test the theory I had about the battery and how cold affected it. Hope you can understand

Is there a market for a lightweight E enduro bike? Id have thought a big travel plow on the downhills and a big battery high power motor to wich you back tonthe top would be whats needed. A lightweight trail or xc E bike , yes i can see a place for them
@JaredHoff
@JaredHoff 9 месяцев назад
The way I see it, this is for those who want to get extra laps in on the same enduro trails they always ride without the weight penalty of a full size eMTB
