SRNAs and nurses can have some anxiety about the experience of clinical and working with preceptor. I can honestly say that I have a more positive than negative outlook on my experiences (if you take out the racial issues I've had). I have some friendly words of advice for those starting clinical, or even those that have started clinical and feel like their experiences with preceptors have been "off".

These are great tips, especially for new SRNAs entering clinical. I had a couple awkward moments early in clinical when I was so afraid to not keep up with my CRNA that I realized I was trailing behind them to the bathroom...

Great advice on just nodding your head and going. It’s THEIR patient. You are just there to learn and help. && It’s so awkward when the preceptor DOESNT give you a break. Like bruh I gotta pee. Lol

Great tip to take the break when it's offered. Too often I've not wanted to leave an experience because I want to learn, but then sh*t hits the fan and I don't get that sip of water or trip to the bathroom. Now I make my CVICU orientees leave for a break unless something truly unusual or unique is happening that I don't want them to miss. I tell them to learn from my mistakes! I don't want them to get into the habit of not caring for themselves during their shift. It will wear you out otherwise! And yes, sometimes the preceptor just needs a few moments alone haha.

YES!!!! Everything in this is so true. I only hope to be the same type of CRNA preceptor as you ;)

@@AishaCRNA I love learning and teaching, and when I interviewed for DUNAP, I let them know that. I really look forward to opportunities to help others learn. Little known fact: Before I enrolled in an accelerated BSN program, I was getting my masters in education. RishiMD on IG once posted something that resonated with me: "To teach is to learn twice". That's why I love to precept. I get to learn again!

Starting my BSN in 3 weeks. OR absolutely calls my name - loudly. SRNA end goal; you're amazing for these!

End goal should be CRNA. End goal of SRNA is eternally expensive.

That is very true, we aren't there to socialize. Our main focus should be the patient and learning as much as you can. I don't have to be friends with my CRNA but I should respect he or she.

Great content and awesome way to approach clinicals. Not everyone realizes that being humble goes further than proving how smart you are.

I'm thinking about going to nursing school right now, does it matter where I get a BSN if I don't know what field I plan on going into?
@AishaCRNA
@AishaCRNA 5 лет назад
I would just make sure it is an accredited program.

Dear Madam, I and my spouse are planing to move to Australia with our three kids on PR with in 6 months( I am the principal PR applicant). My spouse had a Bachelor degree in Nursing-4 year, from India. She did not have any clinical experience since here graduation and now its almost 7 years. What are the available options for my spouse to work in medical/Nursing related profession in Australia and what are the additional steps that we need to do to get into the Australian workforce in any or Nursing related field.? We prefer to proceed in Degree related field of Nursing. What courses do she need to complete in Australia? Expecting your detailed reply about our chances in Australia and cost of study? Thanks for your valuable reply, Regards, Roy Raju, India
