I can imagine it was probably extremely beneficial for them to train together since Fabrico could help Mirko polish his ground game and Mirko could make Fabrico a better striker.
Maybe Master Fabricio left after that incident because he felt Mirko's ground game was good enough for him not to be there anymore. Unlikely but possible.
Isaiah Villa they both christian. brasilianm and croatian are similar in some segments. like people. big christian, big warrior. and Mirko realy like Fabricio Wrrdum like person. because is good groundet man. and other rthings we newer know. just know from our national TV station in Croatia
What an unreal story. Werdum literally left. That’s insane! This is one of the coolest MMA legends stories I’ve ever heard, and I love the way Cro Cop tells it.
+conrad artchannel Werdum look like nice simple guy. great champ. now stipe miocic. both are train with cro-cop. for all 3 of them it's a big big martial school.
he had a lot of bad experience with journalists, they would twist his words, and make it look like he said something he didn't, so he is trying not to leave possibilities for stories like 'mirko is better grappler than werdum' or 'mirko used to destroy werdum in grappling'..he obviously had respect for werdum, since he used to help him prepare for fights a lot...
Mirko is such a clear person and a true performer. What a great guy.I think every top fighter he fought with has had respect and my impression he's one of the hardest guy to defeat for every opponent
Werdum has talked about these training sessions said there would be wars. Said mirko sent him to hospital with leg kick and could barely walk for weeks.
Werdum knew that what Cro Cop needed to add to his game was an impenetrable defence against a top grappler like himself, because the rest was already there. Once he was tapped Werdum knew his work was done.
Wow. First time seeing this. What a humble warrior Mirko is. Funny thing is that days ago, I watched a tiny bit of Werdum & Wanderlei on a Portuguese podcast (with English subs). Fabricio was saying how badly he got beat up by Mirko on the feet every day during training. Can't wait to finish that podcast. Thank you for this post!
This was EXACTLY what happened to me tonight. My teammate/coach and friend who always has been slaughtering me in sparring, both kickboxing and grappling, always getting me in either an armbar or a rear naked choke for 3 years, today I finally got him in that choke! And he just ran out. He just took off. I hope i'll see him again lol.
😆 I can relate in the game of pool I have a nephew who I trained for a couple of years and I stopped it when he beat me one time. It's been years since that happened now I treat him like a fair rival when we play because I taught him everything I knew
The literal translation for FRUTA is "fruit"... Quite simple. But here in Brazil the meaning for that word when you say to someone who is afraid of doing something is "pussy" or something like that with an homossexual meaning.
asforemita I used to play video games online with a Brazilian dude who called noobs "biba" and he said it meant faggot. But I've never heard any other Brazilian use it. Is that a real word?
GaeasBlessing Yes, this word can also be used for that meaning, it is a real word yes but is not as prejorative as the other ones. The story behind that is because in the 70´s there was a famous woman`s fashion store in London called "BIBA", the store became so famous that some guys started to like it and then people here started to use the term to rotulate men with homossexual behavior (in their minds fashion stuff is for homossexual men). A funny thing about that hehehe... When you speak "Justin Bieber" in portuguese it sounds a lot like "Justin Biba"... Poor kid hahah.
fabricio knew that if he loses from mirko he must go back with the best and train with them and he underestemated guz who could fight him 5min bl me its a lot in ju jitsu. great story
We can do this Jimmy Timmy power hour bullshit again and settle this on your turf of dimmsdale, blood. I'll tornado kick you back to Fairy world ya buck toothed ingrate
I think the "my work here is done" version is very poetic, but I believe there's a different explanation. If you go to Werdum's Wikipedia page it says that he "...started training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu after being choked unconscious with a triangle choke by the ex-boyfriend of his girlfriend." It's obvious that this experience was sufficiently traumatic for him that it started his obsession with jiu-jitsu and grappling, eventually resulting in Fabricio becoming probably the greatest heavyweight grappler of his time. He did, after all, submit Fedor. Whatever his motivation was, possibly revenge, very likely the will never to get choked again, it was very important in how this incident played out. I also believe that, had Mirko just tapped him, Fabricio wouldn't have left for Brazil. But this was for him a first person flashback of the very accident that generated his deep seated, driving trauma, possibly even fear, with the added insult that he had brought it on himself by teaching Cro Cop everything he knew. I think that, there and then, Fabricio just couldn't take it and had to go back home. It probably closed some sort of circle for him as well, as he later found out, I'm sure, that he could get choked, so many years after the fact, by somebody much more dangerous than whoever that first guy was, and nothing bad would come of it, except, of course, a few seconds of amnesia.
I don't understand why Werdum had to go back to Brazil immediately just because Crocop submitted him, I mean, why he would say he was going to do that in the first place, and then why he would actually do it.
Rorry Templeton Fabrício Just talked about his time in Croatia with mirko in a Brazilian podcast but it is in Portuguese, he is just as humble as Mirko.
I think that was Werdums way of saying: "My work here is done." Indeed Werdum is a master of the craft and to be submited by a tired from training Mirko meant that a fully prepared Mirko for a grappling match would be a difficult beast to control.
Svaka cast Mirkane. On i Mirko dve zive legende.
This was 18-20 years ago. He likely did not have a family at that time. Cro Cop distinctly says 2.5 years. Werdum also has a BJJ Academy in Zagreb, Croatia. He does not teach there personally. But, he comes and does seminars, he opened it and it carries his name. At least, it used to.
Fabricio said in a brazilian podcast this story is a lie, he said Mirko got him by surprise off training session in a RNC and he tapped before going to sleep... I belive Mirko tho.
Well clearly the story isn't a lie if they both said it happened lol, just some details perhaps... Mirko still caught him and submitted him, only Werdum says he tapped but he didn't go to sleep... I mean if you get choked out, you normally don't realize what happened. Cleary something of the sort happened so it's safe to say perhaps he was out for a second. Mirko said he was out for "5 to 6 seconds" so it was clearly a very brief timespan, maybe the tap went unnoticed as well. Who knows but still a funny story. I like how Mirko is reiterating multiple times that he's nowhere near as good as Werdum on the ground and it was a fluke pretty much lol.
@@ant4613 No, you dont speak portuguese so you dont know. Mirko said he did it on training and submited him. Fabricio said Mirko got him by surprise out of training and he tapped before going to sleep, very different versions.
@@asforemita We're not having an argument. It's a pretty stupid statement to say "you don't speak Portuguese" to someone you don't even know. You said "got him by surprise off training session in a RNC" which is poor English and not clear so it didn't make it sound like they were saying two completely different things. Just a misunderstanding.
Gotta love crocop keeping it real! great guy... and Werdum too.. thanks for the translate.. only not cool part of it all is the "fruta" meaning Fruit.. it is also called "frutinha" and he was basically calling him gay, it is all in good spirits but definitely today a derogatory term.. but those were different times I don't think Werdum would talk like that today
MrUndadoggPtownCity When Mirko brought Werdum to come train him in BJJ, Werdum was a nobody in MMA. He got Werdum signed to Pride after he became his BJJ coach, I'm sure Werdum was pretty poor before that.
He wasn't poor, he wasn't rich but he was a normal dude. He was already a coach in Spain and a bjj world champion before this story. He lived in Spain for a couple of years (his mom lives in Madrid, that's why he speaks spanish too).
it was when Mirko was on top of his game in Pride...he was trying to become better in BJJ and someone recomended him Werdum, at that time unknown globaly JJ master to teach him, so he literally paid Werdum to come live with him to teach him....so he stayed there more than 2 years and trained Cro Cop
