A country of roughly 4 million people, accomplishing a back to back semi and beyond appearances at the World Cup, it is quite an accomplishment amongst the traditional soccer power houses.
This example of our country is just an perfect example of being patient. Beacuse all the unlucky and sad moments that happened in the last 10 years before the 2018 world cup really paid back in the lst world cups. We had 2 toughest and sadest losses against Turkey in EURO 2008 quarter-final, and if we didn't lose that match we would probably be Europan chapions. Second loss from Portugal in the round of 16 in EURO 2016, and we would probably go all the way if we didn't lose so tragically that game. But it was obviously meant to be, and all the unluck paid back in the last two World Cups. It feels so good and special to watch this era of our national team. Hopefully there will be some more podiums in these championships while I'm still alive.
It’s very interesting to think that Croatia were the equivalent of the 2018 Belgium in this tournament. They faced the same team twice in the Group stage and 3rd place playoff. Belgium in 2018 played against England in the group stage and 3rd place playoff. While Croatia played Morocco twice. They then faced Japan in the round of 16. They were down but then bounced back to knock them out. They did the same thing as Belgium there. They then played Brazil in the quarterfinals just like Belgium did. They then lost in the Semifinals to the World Cup champions. Then they get 3rd just all like Belgium 🇧🇪 🤝 🇭🇷
So happy for all the accomplishments this generation has achieved, both 2018 and 2022. But I will never get over the generation under Slaven Bilić - Kovac brothers, Srna, Olic, Eduardo, Pletikosa, Simunic, young Modric&Rakitic&Mandzukic, Corluka, Kranjcar, Simic, Pranjic, Petric, Klasnic, etc. what they did for future generations will never be forgotten. They have built up the national squad patiently through many, many years. IMO They deserve as much praise as this generation ❤️ Hope they will never be forgotten
Serbian here. And that's why Croatia is better at football than Serbia, that's why they went so far in Qatar and four years earlier in Russia - they don't score too many goals, but they know how to save their goal, that's the key!
After 2018 WC Silver...Croatian squad was left on Modric, Lovren, Perisic and Brozovic from the old players, but all others are new younger players, but they won the 🥉 in 2022 Qatar and six months after that they are playing a finals of Europe league vs Spain

You could see in the game vs Argentina that Croatia were more confident, had more seriousness and cohesion as a team before and little time after the penalty but got completely mentally(which is Croatia's strongest feat) broken down after Orsato's biased decision making... so yes, this world cup was rigged... also there was no way this Argentina team could've won against France with this kind of power. It should've been the same final like Russia 4 years prior. We saw what kind of a very biased ref is Orsato today in the game of England and Serbia.

Gvardiol je odlican i bit ce sve bolji i sretan sam da igra za Hrvatsku. Sjecam se onu tekmu kada je Gvardiol igra s Leipzigom protiv Citija i gdje je Haaland zabio PET komada a Gvardiol ga cuvao! Kako onda objasniti da ga je Guardiola kupio ako je dozvolio toliko golova norvezanu? Gvardiol je svetska klasa i tocka! :-)

When Croatian players celebrate their WC run by singing songs from neo-fascist crooner Thompson, which explicitly make reference to a criminal regime whose entire senior leadership was convicted of crimes against humanity, it makes it really hard for normal people to cheer for this Croatian team.
Meanwhile bosnian football Fans have IS and Al-Qaida banners Screening "Allahu Akbar", "kill the unbelievers"...etc. Yes bosnian Fans are very very nice...
From my feeble memory I thought Croatia was in the world cup final 2022 and they lost to France 4-2 ??? That would make them 2nd NOT 3rd... Croatia came 3rd in 2018 I think🤔🤔🤔
