Talek River, August 2013, Masai Mara, Kenya. The Talek flowed a few yards in front of our tent. Or guide, Samson, told us a herd of wildebeest was gathering at a spot he knew on the Talek, and he believed they might cross soon. The usual crossing areas on the Mara River were constantly jammed with safari vehicles, so we followed Samson's always wise advice and took the Land Rover a few miles down stream to the place Samson had told us about.
This was just one of the amazing events Janis and I witnessed on this trip to the Mara. One wildebeest was drowned by the same large croc that missed the first one by a tail.
