FAQ's
-How many squares do I need for a baby blanket?
This can vary, it really can be however big or small you like, but i generally do 4x4 or 5x5.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How many chains shall I do for a *single/double/etc' blanket?
Again, this can vary. I would suggest that you do your chain and lay it down agains the bed you are wanting it for. It should be the same width. You should then ad a few more to make it a little wider.
This blog post might be useful: bit.ly/1UIobie
-How much yarn do I need?
Unfortunately, I will be able to answer individuals questions about how much yarn you would used do to multiple factors affecting it. Such as, your tension, the size of hook and the yarn being used.
-What camera do you use?
I use a Canon 750D to film my videos on a tripod.
-What do you do for a living?
My full time job is a full time Beauty Therapy Lecturer at a College

Thank you for doing both UK and US terms. It makes learning much easier and later makes reading other patterns easier as well.

I have problems learning new things sometimes, but I think it’s mostly getting into my own head before learning a new skill/step because it’s never as hard as I make it in my head. So I’m learning very slowly and basically perfecting everything before moving on. Your videos are great! I learned the slipknot (which my little sister actually said I do better than her already and she’s done some SERIOUS projects!), the chain, the US double/UK single (did I get that backwards?), and just now the color change. I started, after ruining a few small pieces, a small scarf for my twin granddaughters. So it’s nice and simple and repetitive, which I like, only 20 stitches across, and I had to add a color because the starter kit I got had small balls and I ran out of the first one. Oh, and turning, of course. It may take me a while to get through a lot of your videos but I’m using only your channel so far to learn! Thank you! I’m home by myself a lot so this is a great skill to learn and have something else to keep myself busy, other than my legos and my sewing! I decided since everyone kept telling me how great I am at sewing maybe I should try to learn crochet! Hopefully I get good at it too! I don’t have a sewing machine and do everything by hand. Recently I made my granddaughters a teddy bear made completely by hand. Also, hand drew a pattern by myself and looking at a bunch and not finding one the size I wanted. That was the first thing I had ever made! They loved it!

I've learned so much from your videos! I return to them often to refresh a technique. There are many block/motif designs that expect you to follow a chart for color changes. Do you have a video on that? I'm baffled by them.

You are becoming my favorite RU-vidr!! I've been crocheting for a long time but wasn't the best at it. I learned from my mother who was left handed but I'm right handed. So I don't hold the yarn exactly right. But you have cleared up a lot of things for me. I love how you explain everything and also show us. Thank you so much!!!

@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 4 года назад
I’ve chained two here when changing colour to keep the ends of the yarn nice and secure, so the tails are held in-between the two chains. If you’re not changing colour you should chain one as normal 😊

Thank you! I have a question of how I would make a circle in another color? Would I cut the color for the circle at the end of each row and then place it back in again when I work my way back or keep the circle color yarn when I change the row? I want to make a scarf that is using white with black specks but has a red dot toward the beginning to the scarf. It represents a Koi breed of fish Tancho Showa.

I'm just starting to learn how to crochet and your clear and efficient videos are becoming a main reference in that effort. Regarding this technique I have two questions though. Why did you make two chains at the end of the row (instead of just one as normal) when you're doing double crochet stitches? And when one is not changing colours but just adding more yarn is it better to follow this tutorial or to just join the new end with a knot?

pixelized glad you are finding them useful. To answer your questions. I often do a chain 2 when I’m found a double crochet row, I find it sits better and helps with the row that you will be adding above it. If you just wanted to add a new ball of yarn in the same colour, take a look at my ‘magic know’ tutorial. I show it using two colours but that really just for demonstration purposes. X

@@bellacococrochet Thanks for your reply! I actually already saw your handy magic knot tutorial.😉 It's just that I'm using T-shirt yarn which is rather bulky so I'm guessing I'd always end up with fairly conspicuous knots in the fabric (it works great with wool yarn though).🤔

I tried this with a blanket once, but it made the blanket taller on the ends since those stitches have a bit more yarn in them than the middle stitches do. Any tips for that? I want to use this method, but I’ve found it makes my work uneven.

I'm sure this has probably been asked already so i apologize if you're having to repeat yourself... but when you're at the end of a row and you chain one like normal, howcome here we chain one twice? I'm extremely new to crochet so I genuinely do not understand a lot of the super basics... but it's sooooo fun to make projects and I've made a couple really basic things so far. Like, here in this project you'd chain one at the end of the row to accommodate for the width of the stitch, but you chain two during the color change and that confuses me lol

I'm making my first blanket right now and I've just been using magic knots at the end of a skein so my colors have been changing at random points XD I should have watched this, it looks so clean when it actually changes when It's supposed to! also any idea why you end up chaining two when doing it on an end? or is that just how you were taught?

I chained two because I'm crocheting over the ends as I go and I find it makes it a bit easier, but you can chain one as normal if you prefer 😊
