It's simple and for beginners of crochet, it's the Crochet Candy Cane Ornament.
This simple ornament is just one simple chain of 40 with 3 double crochets worked into each chain. The adding of the 3 double crochets in each chain forces the chain to automatically coil. You need to create two coils, one in red and one in white.
Once you are completed the coils, you wrapped them with each other and they hold onto each other due the twisted coil. Simply attach a hanging strand and position it at the right position to give the iconic look of the top of the Candy Cane.

Hey Sir Mikey, you can also use a pipe cleaner to put all the way through the center to keep the candy cane shape. This makes for a very cute decoration to put on gifts! Thanks for all your awesome ideas!!!

+ The Crochet Crowd Mikey, This brings back so many memories as I made these 40+ years ago. My Mom loved them so much, she placed them on presents in place of bows & on also on the tree. (She taught me to crochet my 1st project in Kindergarten) ●Tip: for added stability ~ use a pipe cleaner. We also crocheted "Candles" with a wick etc. Thanks for making me Smile today! 😊

my daughter makes these and what she uses is a pipe cleaner down the middle a red one or a white one that way you can mold it in the safe you want and you don't have to worry about security hanging Loop cuz you can just take and put it over your branch without having to worry about anything she was a great job to Mikie

Lena K I wish I had thought of pipe cleaners! No matter how I did this I couldn't get it to bend correctly so I ended up using a small jewelry wire. I made a note to use pipe cleaners next time!

I use ‘IT’ hair spray (it use to be called’freeze it’) it keeps it formed the best I have found.

We used these in our hair as kids. Just make the curly as long as you want (don't cut the yarn), then make a long chain for tying (don't cut the yarn), then continue on and make the same length curly at the other end. The length of the curlies and the chain vary depending on the size of the person to be wearing them.Tie onto pony tails and enjoy. We never rolled two together like that though. Cool idea.

how many curls should I end up with? I did 3 and got one with 11, 9, and 10, and some of the bumps are hard to get into, like they are deep, if that makes sense

For those of you who crochet loosely, I suggest that you use an F or G hook. The “tighter” the stitches, the more likely it will keep its shape. A pipe cleaner is definitely a good idea 👍🏼
