Let's get started on our 2024 Under the Sea Crochet-Along Blanket! This year long CAL will be made up of 12 circle in a square granny squares that mimic the look of water bubbles! Each month I will be posting the pattern for a new ocean creature that we will stitch to the front of each water bubble crochet square.

These are simple 12 x 12 circle in a square crochet squares that use double crochet stitches.
I am using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in colors Light Blue fore the circle bubble and Red Heart Super Saver in color Blue for the background edges.

Hey Sara!! Do you recommend to joined all of the squares together and just attach the little creatures as you release them every month?

@@LvBks221 yes, me too! But then I thought about when the time comes and we have to stitch the creatures in the middle of the blanket it might be a little bit hard 🤔

Love this CAL- it is so adorable! Thank you for putting it together and sharing it with us! Quick question - I've got 2 squares done but they are not laying flat. How worried should I be? I did not turn my work around each row (which, apparently is a trick to helping squares lay flat). Will this work itself out when I put them all together- or should I get to frogging and start again? Any and all advice is welcome! Thanks!

I love these squares but i want to make them into a jacket, how can i reduce the size and still add all the pieces to make the under the sea creatures or maybe i keep them there size and crochet a oversized jacket, i will try doing that, thank you if you have some helpful tios on foing this

What am I doing wrong to make my square still look rather round? like before I add all the darker blue it just curls up. when it is done, it looks a bit rounded still..... am I missing stitches?

On her website, she stated 2 light blue skeins and 4 blue skeins.

Ok. (Row 1) When I do the MC and chain 2, (does this count as 1st dc?)then do 10 crochets I am coming up with 11 dc. Had 1 extra in row 2 also. Do I just skip that chain 2 and go into the first dc? Looks like the same situation in round 2. The pattern doesn’t allude how to treat the chain 2. Thanks💕🌻

I think you skip the chain and slip stitch into first dc. Next round chain 2 but go into that stitch dc. Hope that helps

Hi Sara, I’m playing catch up, I just finished making all of these squares and I guess I’m a tight crocheter because my squares are only about 10 1/2 square, is that ok or do I need to go back and add some more rounds.

Quick question Sara row 3 is 2dc then 1dc and you do the same for row 4, shouldn’t row 4 be 2dc followed by 2 single dc for an increase? ❤

Hi I'm not familiar with red heart super saver it looks thicker to what we call double knit weight here in the UK, is the yarn you are using a chunky weight? Thankyou

Hi Bev! The Red Heart Super Saver Yarn is a Medium - 4 yarn, it's 100% acrylic yarn. The label states that it uses 5.5 mm crochet hook or 5 mm knit needle. I hope this helps!
