If anybody making this thinks their petals are too small and want them to be bigger, I have a small extension for you. I made my petals with smaller yarn because thats all I had, so to make the petals bigger I just put dc along the petals in each dc. Then when I got to the tip of the petal I put one dc, ch 2 sl st into first ch, and then another dc, then went down the petal in each dc normally. So the 5 dc that was in the petal, then I added two more dc, and then another 5 to total 12. I hope that makes sense. I just did that all around.
Wait, so are you saying you did 6 double crochets on each half of the petal instead of 5? And then did you do anything extra for the chain 2 and slip stitch? (I'm a bit confused there)
Hi! Made this written pattern as I was watching the video. Hope this helps for those who wants the written pattern. Please comment if there are any mistakes. Thank you for this pattern. ❤️ Brown yarn R1: Mr. Ch 3. 15 dc. (16 sts in total including the ch3). Closed off the ring. Slip stitch on top of the 3rd ch of the first ch 3. R2: ch 3. 1 dc on the same stitch. Make 2 dc on each stitch around. Slip stitch on top of the 3rd ch of the first ch3. (32 sts). Cut yarn. Leave tail for weaving. Yellow yarn R3: Connect the yarn in any stitch by slip stitching. Ch 3. 1 Dc in the same stitch. Ch 4. 2 dc in the next stitch. Skip next 2 stitches. 2 dc in the next stitch. Ch 4. Next stitch 2 dc. Skip next 2 stitches. 2 dc. Ch 4. 2 dc. Continue around. (Total of 8 shells) Slip stitch on top of the 3rd chain of the first ch3. R4: 5 dc in the chain 4 space. (Push altogether so they occupy only half of the ch4space). Ch 2. Slip stitch in the 2nd ch from the hook (this will make the pointed look). Make 5 more dc in the same chain 4 space. Slip stitch in the space between the shells. Repeat around. Ch 1. Cut yarn. Leave tail for weaving in. Make 5 flower coasters. Flower basket: Green yarn R1: Mr. Ch 3. 15 dc in the circle. Closed off. Slip stitch on the 3rd chain of the first chain 3. (Total of 16 dc including the ch3) R2: Ch 3. 1 dc in the same stitch. 2 dc around each stitch. (32 sts) Slip stitch on top of the 3rd ch of the first ch3. R3: Ch 3. Next stitch place 2 dc. Next stitch 1 dc. Next stitch 2 dc. Continue around. Slip stitch on top of the 3rd ch o the first ch3. (48 sts) R4: Ch 3. Next stitch 1 dc. Next stitch 2 dc in the same stitch. Next 2 stitches make 1 dc. 2 dc in the next stitch. Continue around. (64 sts) Slip stitch on the 3rd ch of the first ch3. (Base of the basket done) R5: Ch 2. Yarn over insert the hook in the same stitch. Pull up a loop. (3 loops on the hook) YO. Pull through 2 loop. YO insert your hook in the same stitch and pull up a loop. YO pull through 2 loops. (3 loops on the hook again) YO. Pull through all three to finish your three DC cluster. Ch 1. Skip next stitch. Next stitch do the three DC cluster. Ch 1. Repeat around. Slip stitch on top of the first cluster. (32 clusters and 32 ch1 spaces in total) R6: Ch 3. 1 dc in the ch1 space. Next, 1 dc on top of the cluster. 1 dc in the ch1 space. Repeat around. Slip stitch on the 3rd ch of the 1st ch3. (64 dc in total) R7: Same as Round 5. (32 clusters and 32 ch1 spaces) R8: Ch 1. Sc in the ch 1 space. Sc on top of the cluster. Repeat. Ch 1. Cut yarn. Leave tail to weave in. (If you want to make it taller repeat r5 and r6 as much as you want then do r8 after.) Enjoy! ☺️
You teach VERY WELL! I do enjoy making this project and have made 2 sets already😊. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and for sharing it so well!
You are amazing, fantastic explanation, and reasoning for why you do certain stitch, also great skims, I love your eys fir colour combination you have everything someone needs to learn and relax I actually learned how to make a star too by watching this tutorial, because you explain why the pointy stitch was made. Real, absolutely enjoyable vedios. Thank you so much 🌻
The coasters were so simply for a beginner like me. Thankful for no trebles. Its hard for me to stitch into trebles. But the basket seems harder. The main part is knowing the dofference between stitching into a cluster or a chain one like you said
Buenas noche. Maestra desde la distancia le saludo . Solo preguntar que número de aguja esta usando . Ya que depende de ello para el tamaño. Disculpe y cariños
I used light worsted weight yarn and with it a 3.5mm hook. If you make them please do share your recreations with me on instagram. I would love to see 😍😍
Great instructions and a gorgeous pattern if you don't mind some advice turn the music down or don't haves music at all it's very distracting and it's a repeating music that's frustrating I only finished the video by watching the stitches you made with the sound off
Yeah I was thinking about not using the background music as well. But the complete silence when I am not speaking really bugs me so I'm not sure. I have to mute the original audio because of traffic noise. Maybe a lower volume will be ok?
@@cutecrochet I think the lower volume would be great and it's probably me more than anything I like to listen to music when I'm crocheting or doing anything but when it's a repeating sound over and over I get very anxious so again it's probably me but the instructions are awesome The pattern is gorgeous
Does anyone know what size of hook and type of yarn is preferred for this type of pattern? I'm just starting my crochet journey and really want to make this pattern ❤
Here I have used a 3.5mm hook with four ply worsted weight yarn. For coasters it is best to use cotton or cotton blend yarn as it will be absorbent, heat resistant and easy to wash 💗
I love this! My sister in laws absolutely love sunflowers. I want to make these, but I don’t do magic circles. Could I start these with chains? How many chains?
I am using cotton yarn. My flowers came out great but when I am working on the holder for them, it isn't laying flat. Is it most likely that I missed or added extra stitches or could it be because of the cotton yarn?
This is BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you SO much for the great tutorial! What yarn are you using? It looks thin, but I don’t know much about the different yarn types yet. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT KIND OF YARN THIS IS? What thickness?
I put 5 coasters in my basket, but you can make the basket larger or smaller depending on how many you want. I tell you how to do that in the video!💓 These need very little yarn, maybe 30grams for all 5 coasters and 15grams for the basket
Thats because for the rest of the cluster when you start you already have a loop on your hook. You don't have that for the first one, you are starting it with a chain. I hope that made sense🥰
That can happen if your hook is a bit small for your yarn. It might also be a fault in the pattern. If the bending isn't a lot you can flatten it by blocking
@cutecrochet is it possible it's my tension? I'm new to crocheting. It's not your pattern bc I see you did it fine. And another coaster I did had a similar pattern b4 the clusters. I'm almost done with the clusters so I will keep going and see if I can flatten it. So far if I flatten most of it then on end curves.
Hello! I love this pattern but im having trouble pulling my circle closed. My yarn snaps when i try to pull the tail to close the cirlce 😭 What kind of yarn are you using?
Hey so I love this pattern but I’m struggling with pulling the magic circle closed. I know how to do magic circles but no matter how hard I pull, the ring has a hole that won’t close up. Can you help me?
Its totally normal when your yarn is bit on the thicker side and you do more than 12dc in the magic circle. That shouldn't affect the overall pattern though. Or if you absolute want it to close use your teeth or pliers to pull, like I sometimes do😅😅, or use a thinner yarn if you have it 💗
Im new to crotcheting and it seems like i made my coasters bigger than yours. Bc after round 6 only 1 coaster fits tightly lol. And thats with the basket flattened. Can you help?
It might be that the yarn you used for the coastets was a bit thicker than the yarn for the basket so they ended up bigger. That happens often, yarn thickness is not always consistent. You can just do one more round of green for the base, that should fit your coastets nicely
For round 5 do 1 double crochet in 3 stitches and then 2 double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat that all the way around. Then the rest of the pattern will be the same
@cutecrochet you have mentioned in someone else's comment that you have used 3.5mm. That's why I wanted to know which hook size you have used for both.
I did use acrylic because that's what I had on hand. But for coasters it is better to use cotton actually, it won't melt if something's too hot and be more absorbent
How much bigger are your coasters? You could do an extra round of double crochet for the base of the basket. As round 5 do dc in 3 stitches and then increase. You will have 80 stitches that way and then 40 3dc clusters after that for round 6. Let me know if it gets too big though 💗
It's been a year since you posted this video so I don't expect a response. Great project but could you have at least stated what size hook you used and the kind of yarn!?
If you follow the same pattern and increase the centre then the number of petals will increase. For the 3rd round do increases in every alternate stitch. 1dc in one stitch, 2dc in next stitch, repeat like that 16 times, you'll have 48 stitches. Then follow the pattern for the Last two rounds, you'll have 12 petals instead of 8. Hope that makes sense 🥰
You can! Just go to settings (that's the wheel on the top right of your screen), there'll be an option called playback speed, from there you can slow down or speed up a video as much as you need.
@@cutecrochet If only that was the case. I looked and looked and looked, and.. normally they are there, but not this time. Nontheless, took a while of tons of rewinding.. but I got the pattern down! I've already done 5 of them. Thank you for the video
Good work❤ u tutorial cause very well explained but background music is annoying a lot would you mind not to use it or is there anyway to listen to u without this. Stay blessed. ❤
@@patphelps2979 I admit I used to speak fast in my older videos. If you slow down the video from RU-vid settings that might help. I am from India so I do have an Indian accent and English is not my first language but I assure you it is very much grammatically accurate.
I am new to this and need help. On the 2nd row for brown, i did what you said but it doesnt count 32. Not sure whwt im doing wrong. It stops at 29. Do i count the 3 from the previous chain? Or ?
You need to count the first chain 3 as one double crochet. Maybe you've done fewer stitches in the first round that's why you have less stitch count. Let me know if it's ok or you can also DM on Instagram if you have any questions 💗
