I'd just like to say thank you. Years ago my grandma taught me basic crochet but all I could do was squares of single crochet. Then I moved to the states and was watching RU-vid and came across your videos. I started out following along making face towels and then moved on to following along making the bags (I have a closet full now) and then shawls and wraps and now cardigans and it's all because of you. You are unlike any other tutorial on RU-vid because you explain everything in terms everyone can follow. Your voice is soothing and makes me feel like it's no biggie if I make a mistake just have a do over. Now my whole family are wearing or using things that I've made because of you. Thank you so much for these videos, you're fantastic!

thank u for this tutorial... im almost finished. i will share a pic on your fb page when im complete. i had exactly the amount of stitches u had throughout the video. U were very clear speaking, in the camera view the whole time, video quality is clean enough to see stitches clear. i love RedHeart yarn... i used redheart with love, color: Holly Berry. i used hook size K 6.50mm

I've made this besy several times and they always seem to come out small around the back. The ladies that I made them for can't close them in the front whether it's with a big button or wit yarn ties. They even come out small when I went up 2 hook sizes and increased the rows before and after the armholes. What am I doi'g wrong??

Hi Crystal I have made mine in variegated yarn an it looks good, I followed your instructions to measure arm to arm across back, but uses 26 stitches for armholes instead of 22 as I am bit plump, I also did 19 rows before starting armholes, an 19 after 38 in all then did 5 rows of back an front post border, an it fits perfectly meeting across bust. was going put sleeves in but ran out yarn. so will be sleeveless. thank you for this pattern.

I think this would look beautiful with one of those Mandela swirl cakes or any of the swirl cakes that have the color different color in the middle and then the color changes as it goes around cuz the back is round oh I think that will look beautiful I might try that with my next one almost finished this one so excited

I too Chain 1 at the Beginning of each Row/Round, I do it because I do not like the Open Gap that a Starting Chain 3 Leaves.

Love this vest.....here is my question....I really want to make it light and lacey since I live in Florida......was thinking of using Red Heart number 3 crochet thread and size E hook.....should I make it the same way and just keep adding rows until it is big enough....any suggestions before I start this and is it a good idea....thanks

I'm going to attempt this pattern again soon. My first attempt was a fail due to not being able to find the yarn i needed to finish this project. I can't wait to make this again. By the way is there a written pattern? If there is I could be over looking it and thought I'd ask.

to answer everybody's question this is what I did I went down to a size 5.50 hook and only did about 4 through 15 rounds of her pattern yes do exactly as her pattern even if you make it less 24 the armholes 22 24 the armholes and I increase some road when she does one roll of double crochet I did about 3 and I done little bit more back Post in front post

Crystal I would like to make this vest but ueing a different kind of yarn, would you mind telling me how to measue for it. The yarn I am using is not as thick as what you are showing in your video. By the ways what a wonderful, wonderful teacher you are.

+Cheryl Amith I measure by holding the large circle up the back of my model and when the circle is large enough to reach the back side of the models arms this is where I place the arm holes and then I continue making the circle big enough to fit around the model comfortably.....I hope this helps please let me know if you still have trouble

I think I'd go 2 or 3 more rounds. You might have to just experiment by making the armholes after a round or 2 and try it on. If its too tight, unravel the armhole chains and go another round and try on again.

jancie ortiz SC around the armhole, decrease over 2 stitches or more at armpit, if needed. I think she does that in the video. To make a sleeve, continue working in a spiral until you achieve the length needed. I would recommend doing double crochet. After you finish your first round of single crochet, do a half double in the next stitch, and then start your doubles. You may want to decrease on the inside of the sleeve as you get further along. Figure out where you want it to be narrower. You can decrease every other row or every three or four rows depending on the size of your arm. Put a stitch marker at each decrease. That'll help you to do the same on the other side. If you want an edging on the bottom of the sleeve, stop the double crochet a couple of inches short. Continue to SC as many rounds as you want your edging. To finish off the spiral, last SC, then slip stitch in next stitch to make it even. Hope this makes sense.

so the next time that I make this project I'm going to use her crochet size hook and I'm still going to do 15 rounds and and just follow her powder it and very simple tutorial even for me as a beginner so I don't know if you increase the rounds I'm still think it would be the same 24 armhold 22 so I hope that gives anybody answers

Crystal thank you . I love this pattern. I’m making mine right now. Sometimes I wish I could just pick up the phone and call you, lol! What do you think about doing this one in dk weight (Loops and Threads - Joy DK is what I have on hand.) I believe it’s 22 stitches and 28 rows for the wool gauge. Hope I said that right. I tried to follow your pattern with the hook and everything and it still turned out too small so I jumped up to a M hook will that make it bigger

If you don't want to pull out all your hard work then it's a good idea to do a swatch and to measure the gauge. That way you will get the correct foundation chain length for your size.
