I have made 30 squares so far for one of the two blankets I am gifting to my 4yr old grand nieces for Christmas. I can see why Anna loved making these squares. They are so easy to pick up and work on if you just want to crochet something fun and easy.
Anna was my mother's name. My younger daughter has Anna as her confirmation name in honor of my mother. So the name Anna is very special to me. Thank you for sharing your grandmother's legacy with us. And thank you for another lovely and meaningful video.
Love this idea! Got my yarn pack in the muted colors and oh so gorgeous. Got my box and decorated it with peel and stick wallpaper. Pretty orchids, passionflowers, butterflies, and dragonflies. Going to make my first square today. Still working on the back border of my Greenway blanket but using it with delight already. I crochet slowly but that's the way I like it and that's what I find relaxing. Looking forward to this November legacy CAL. Thank you Anja ❤

I have already made some of these squares and they are so enjoyable to make on a winter’s evening in front of the TV. They soon mount up and are a wonderful way of using up all our scraps and not having to worry about colour matching. 😊
I love that no matter how complicated we make things for ourselves, slowing down and simplicity is so rewarding. I love English paper piecing with fabric, and have been looking for a portable yarn project, this is lovely. It all has to fit in my hand bag! How wonderful-another beautiful square. This one as well as the Harbor square work up so quickly. Once you understand the pattern you can make oodles at a sitting. Before you know it you’ve got enough for a blanket. I love the Continuous Join method. Thank you once again Anja for more inspiration. Headed to the stash for my Anna square blanket.
Thank you for this easy, but beautiful pattern. I am really enjoying it. The different rows help keep the RSI away and I am finding my tension gets more and more even as I progress, and thankfully not so tight! Also I keep thinking of your Nana/Grandma whilst I am crocheting her creation. 😊

I'm doing this one next. I'm making a granny square now with pink black and silvers for my car. Then I will do this one using scrap balls in bold colors. I've wanted to do this for a long time. I want two car blankets so perfect. I think it's touching to rename it after your grandma. Oh yes stars will be in silver glitter.
Finishing up my box & started my squares with some of my stash yarn but plan on getting the yarn packs also to make squares for different blankets. Love this idea!!! Thank you Anja. 😊

I'm off to Dorset jn a few days and I'll have a ball of SSDK and a hook with me. It's an eight hour journey, so although I don't expect to be crocheting for the whole 8 hours, I AM envisiging a pile of several squares by the time I get off the train jn Bournemouth. Hello Anja, this stitch is wonderful. When I watched you doing it I thought would be complicated to remember it but when I started doing it I realized it’s actually very simple and addictive to make. If I want to make a big blanket with this square but a continuous one not divided in smaller squares( I think I saw these in your grandmother’s stack) , what the beginning stitch count should be? Reading the comments I can tell that I’m the ONLY ONE having problems with this square. The only way that the square looks good is if it’s crocheted neatly and I guess my tension is not stable because my boxes do not align perfectly right. They look messy and sloppy. I’m not going to give up but I’m frustrated. I am using a 3.5 hook but the work does not look neat.
Dont worry😊Your squares will get better and once they are joined any little bits that concern you now will even up...just my thoughts🎉 relax and enjoy😊
Hi Antonio, yes, like Ellen says, once your squares are joined together they will all be ok, the more you crochet the better you will get, try and relax and enjoy the process. Anja x
Is there a chart for this pattern? It’s just that if I have to put the project aside for maybe a few months while I’m doing other things it’s much easier to get back to it if I can glance at a chart rather than having to scroll through a video. I also forget things like number of chains in the foundation and with a chart all the numbers are right there. Of course if necessary I’m willing to write the pattern by going through the video again, but if there’s a chart I won’t have to do that. 😃😃😃
@@OpheliaTalks Thank you Anja for your swift reply. I was thinking I was just stupid in not being able to find it. I’ve just turned 74 so I can expect the stupidity, though I’m still in school so I’m trying to keep the brain ticking over. 😃😃😃 What I will do is go through the video and write the pattern. This way I can leave it and come back to it later and it will be easy to see where I am. Actually I did start a square a couple of weeks ago, but I was using a fat #4 yarn and it was too clunky for my taste. Something using a 3.5 or 4mm hook will work better for me, I think. I do have a stash of DK, in many colours, so that’s where I’ll start.

I've made enough for a blanket but would really like to join them in a diamond pattern but would need triangle half squares. Not sure if this would work?
I absolutely love this square but I can't seem to get it right. The first box row comes out correctly but I somehow flub up the rest. Also I find that my square is too large - more like 8 by 9 inches. Is there a way to make the squares smaller (what multiple can you use)? I'm sa loppy crocheter so unfortunately my holes don't always line up but that is my own fault. I really do love this pattern, I just wish I was a better crafter! Thank you so much for sharing it! Can I use a worsted weight yarn instead of DK?
Hi I think Anja is using DK in this video and that it might feel like the first one you make will take a year but if you keep making them you will get into the Rhythm and time will pass more quickly with each one after
