I made that shawl and loved the border as you go! I always look for more like that! Thanks so much for my new obsession LOL...Love it! Have a good one, Hugs!
@@mischiefprettybottle if you go to www.mirrorthevideo.com you can convert any video to be left handed! It'll mirror flip it for you - I hope that helps! X
I love this shawl. I made a few of them about two years ago. EVERY time I wear one I get compliments. Thank you for sharing the pattern. I'm going to start another today.
You're tutorial is amazing. By getting in so close to the stitches, and you simple instructions, I can finally do it. I've tried so many tutorials and failed. Thank you so very much for taking the time and effort to make such a well done instructive video. So wonderful. 😊
Great video! It looks like it would be really complex but you make it look easy. Reminding me of the steps on every round really helps it “stick” in my brain. Looking forward to making this!
Absolutely beautiful shawl , I'm making one right now with shawl in a ball yarn. The gradient is so pretty because of this simple yet elegant pattern. Thank you so much for the time stamps, clear instructions and attention to details on your video, it truly helps make this easy to understand and follow for any first- time and long-time crocheters. 😍🧶
I enjoyed making this shawl out of Premier Butterfly. Using one cake, there was enough to use picos on the edge. But not the other trim. My first crochet shawl. Thank you!
Thank you for another wonderful tutorial and pattern! I just started mine in Carons red party yarn. It will be perfect for the holidays! I may have to make one in fall colors too!
Took up crochet at Christmas and this was only my 3rd endeavor - it may have taken me way longer than it should due to inexperience and very thin untwisted cotton yarn BUT it is finished, beautiful and I am so so proud of it. It is a rainbow shawl made for my daughter to wear to Pride - it can also be worn as a beach wrap (who knew!). Thank you so much for the excellent tutorial - what started out as I'll see if I can do it turned into wow I made that, what next? Crochet addicted. If I could post you pictures I would, thank you!
Hi Caroline, you're so welcome and that sounds beautiful!😀 Unfortunately RU-vid doesn't let you put photos in the comments but you can find me on social media: Facebook: facebook.com/HookedbyRobin Instagram: instagram.com/puddnhead
You've actually clearly shown how to picot. Thanks. Usually the crocheters don't actually show that stitch. They say how, but their hands are usually in the way.
I cannot thank you enough for the easy-to-follow tutorial that you posted. I was actually able to follow you without having to repeatedly stop the video to see where I got lost & why my project looked drastically different than the instructor (i.e., like I was crocheting a stuff pet worm). You are amazing & greatly gifted. Thank you again🙂.
Just finished one about 10 min. ago. Used the Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes yarn Maitai color. Worked up beautifully. Gift for a friend. Thanks again Robin!!
Very clear and easy I've tried a few different videos and gave up found urs and love it so much.. its very easy to rewind and pick right back up if I forget something or just refresh on the start of each row how many to chain ect.. thank you so much
This is so pretty! I have some variegated cotton in my stash that I bought on a whim because I found it so pretty but I had no plan in mind.... I have now! Thanks as always Robin.
Love your videos Robin 👍 They are really helping me improve my crochet skills (the US terms have never bothered me too much as I initially learned the basics from an American crochet book). Your variety of projects is fab ❤️
Your tutorials are wonderful. I just finished an eyelet infinity scarf/cowl. Now I'm looking at this gorgeous shawl. I have some 3 weight yarn wanting to be a shawl. Since I just did a similar pattern on the scarf I will add this to my to do list. Just lovely
Thank you thank thank you for your tutorial. I just started watching tutorials for beginner shawls and I have now subcribed. You are a wonderful teacher and thank you for making it easy and clear to understand. I now have the confidence to make this shawl.
I'm doing this shawl again. It's easy and fun. This time I am doing it in a lovely silver metallic with tiny sequins for a family wedding in Hawaii. It will be perfect for a chilly evening.
This pattern is wonderful, I just finished my fourth one! The first one I was using a cotton yarn for a prayer shawl and when my friend saw it she wanted a shawl too! I used some of her yarn and some of mine to complement it and now she wears it all the time. Then I wanted another one so I worked up that and then finally made the last one which is my favorite. Next I'm gonna start on your V stitch shawl after I get done with making a bunch of hats for give-a-ways; thanks Robin!!!
I have a couple of rugs that I’m hoping to finish by the end of the year. But I’ll be attempting to make this shawl for next Australian Winter in mid year. Adore the pattern thanks Robin. Might take a bit longer than I plan due to my physical disability and only the full use of the right hand ✋.
Hi Robin This is an absolutely gorgeous shawl. The colors are beautiful. I must try to make one. Into my favorite folder. This would be a wonderful Christmas gift. Thank you Robin. Have a blessed evening. 😊💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
❤ now this is really awesome it'll be the pattern i use to make shawls for my 2 granddaughters thank you for your wonderfully done tutorial you are amazing🎉may God bless you and yours
Love this - just finished making one in Hobbii cotton kings sultan for myself to wear on my son's wedding day!!! Straight forward and easy to follow instructions as ever! Thank you - your videos are always so well done - and best of all you don't 'umm' and 'ahh' all the way through like some do on their videos! You are relaxed and an absolute pleasure to listen to!!
Thank you so much! Beautiful pattern, you're a good teacher and the timelines are super to have to refer back to when you're unsure of the next move. Awesome tutorial!♥️💯🙂💐
This is a beautiful shawl and you are such an excellent teacher. I can’t wait to start this shawl with a gradient cake I have been waiting to find that perfect pattern for. Thank you.
This tutorial was great! I used a Caron cake to make a shawl for myself and my Son loved it so much he stole it. The dog has laid claim to it too. Occasionally I get to wear it. I guess I'll have to make another. :)
Lovely pattern. I like how regular it is which makes it so easy. - For the border for a less dense look I tried 3 DC, the picot and 2 DC. So one less than what you suggested. It worked out well. Maybe also a solution if you`re afraid of running out of yarn. Thx again.💗💛🧡🤎( this is actualy the colour scheme I used on my shawl) :)
I have never seen a tutorial where you can see where to insert the hook so clearly. I don't know if it's the video quality or the camera angle or the speed at which you're going (probably all combined), but it's really perfect.
I did this too but once I ripped it back and re-did following the video time stamp parts for eyelet/solid rows, I sorted it out and now it's going great 🙂
Very nice presentation and time stamps -- on other clips i've commented by inserting row or rnd time stamps.. thank you very much. also the camera work, background, and video and audio presentations a very clear and paced nicely. thanks again.
Robin, would you please consider making a 7-in-1 shawl (or something similar)? You can search it here on YT. Your teaching style is perfection and would make creating the piece so much easier ❤
Oh I love this! About 4 years ago I made my daughter a dress (which she now STILL wears as a shirt 🤣) That had this eyelet design. In the round, that pattern boggled me. But this is lovely as a shawl. Would like to also see it in a poncho 😘
I’m not sure how large to make it and i had a lot of trouble with the border. I love your videos and have made your scarves and blankets. Thanks for posting. I just ended at an eyelit row.
This is gorgeous Robin. I LOVE the colors your choose AND I love easy...thank you honey, all the way from Florida, USA. I don't wear many sweaters living here, so bring on the shawls and ponchos...LOL
Thank you Robin I finally got the Victoria’s German Shell Shawl (aka Virus Shawl) complete. Amazed at how really simple it is and that it took me quite some time to Understand I got the graph and finished it quickly. I really like patterns but I love crochet graphs. They make things incredibly clear. I started about 3 months ago blasting RU-vid search engine for all Things shawls. Lol I’ve now seen to many to count. This one is a beauty. As is all your creations. But before before I take it on Please help me once again. So standard size shawls are 60-64” Fingertip to fingertip and 30 to 32 inches long. But 32 inches is not long enough for myself 5’6” 3/4 or my sister, 6” 2 we happen to be tall ladies. I don’t know the formula to calculate and create variations in the size of a shawl and I can’t find them anywhere. it was suggested that I just keep on adding rows until it got to the length I wanted. Well I did that and it and what actually happened was the shawl only became about 1.52 inches longer but the width tripled so now the wingspan is the size of a queen size mattress😂😂. I guess this was because of the increases in each end. The ends also stated arcing Can you help. How do I get a length of 36” even 40” without it turning into a blanket 😂. As I am writing I thought what if just stopped doing the increases on each end ? Would the Shawl grow in length and not width Any help is greatly appreciated. One size doesn’t seem To fit all. Many crafter state that tbe 30-32 is PERFECT t because they are short. P. S. For a small wrap around the neck that light more like a triangle scarf. That’s ok I really want a full shawl. So I’m Thi king this is pretty much like a shawl I finish. Same spacing Only it was Triple And Double crochet
It might just be me that messed up but I made a beautiful shawl using the video as my guide and it is beautiful. Twice after that I didn't need to see the video so I used the written and it wasn't till I was like 40 rows in I held that one up and it was totally crooked by a lot. I put it aside cause Picasso is awful to frog and started another. The next was crooked too. It might just be me, but I wanted to mention it incase of error.
@@HookedbyRobin I used Lion Brand Cupcake color Sand Castle. It turned out so beautiful! The yarn is discontinued but I found a couple listed on FB marketplace and bought them so that I can make another in the same color. In the meantime, I've started another one using hobbii Twister, color #35. It will be gorgeous, I'm sure!
Ah good idea with FB marketplace! I wanted some more yarn recently for a shawl and found it was discontinued. I have boxes of yarn but I wanted that one.🫣😅
Is it possible to modify the pattern a bit and add another row of double crochet to make it warmer? It would also help me make the shawl symmetrical when counting rows for a brooch.
Hello Robin, can you please tell us how much yarn and what is the yarn weight in each project you make a tutorial for, sometimes I have the yarn available instead of buying a new yarn, thank you very much 🌹
I'm in the middle of making this now, and what a pretty pattern it is! My yarn is thinner, marked a #3 weight but thin for a 3. Coming along nicely! The only question I have is, how much yarn does the picot border take as I am not sure how much yarn of my last skein to save for the border. Looking forward to doing the spring shawl pattern after this one! 😍
