I'm a size small and wanted more coverage, so I started off with 20 chains, 39 rows of increasing rows, and 10 rows of just regular single crochet rows to lengthen the top. With the bottom stitching my top reached right below my belly button and I have a semi-open back instead of a fully open one. Hope this helps!
I’ve been trying to crochet a top with no pattern and having all kinds of issues with size (made it way too big! lol) gonna try this pattern it looks a lot easier
I made this in the bi flag colours for pride and had people asking where I bought it, it's the first crochet top i've made as well! This tutorial was so easy to follow and the pattern is very easy to change (i'm around a size 16/18, i chained 23, did 45 rows of increase (30 pink 15 purple), 27 normal (blue) and then the shell stitch so the colours were equal). Only thing is I followed the instructions on how to measure the straps and ended up doing 450 for it to crisscross like that and its wayyyy too long, I forgot the chain would stretch lmao, I had enough to wrap it round my waist twice, but it kind of looks cute so its fine 😂
I just finished. This was my first top. I kept measuring it to my daughter as I worked it up. She loves it. Also I bought a sweater on clearance last year and frogged it for the yarn. I used that to make this top. And I have enough to make my other daughter one as well. Thanks for sharing this pattern. ❤.
I’ve only been crocheting for about a year and haven’t tried making many tops, I’ve made four of your tops , so far I’ve loved all of them! They’re all beautiful and it’s so easy to adjust the size to what I need.
Idk what size I’d be considered but I’m a 34DD, I chained 22 to start, but looking now I would’ve chained more like 26-30 for a more full coverage. Did 35 rows increasing, and for the increases I put both stitches in both loops. Worked out swell and super sturdy! Also if anyone has seen the glow in tue dark bead bucket hat, I made my shirt to match one of those. Added on beads and crocheted them in on all odd number rows, it looks super cute!!!
OK I want to have one but I was wondering about support for the bigger chest. Do you wear a bandeau or something with it? Or does tying give enough support?
This is just the 2nd crochet project I've done ever.. and it came out exactly as yours !! I'm so happy !! It's so pretty and beginner friendly.. I loved it.. thank you ❤️
1 year ago I didn't know about crochet, I was stucked camping in the middle of nowhere, each time I went back to town I downloaded some of your videos and started to knit.1 year later iam getting better, doing crochet in the Caraïbes and have some customers. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR VIDEOS ❤️❤️❤️
i did it!!! i just finished mine today and it's incredible!! i tweaked a lot of things, like the amount of stitches (which just had to do with the weight of yarn i was using) and how many rows i did. i was able to make it totally custom for me and it turned out amazing! thank you so much for posting this!!!
This is sooo cute and easy to make! I used an olive green color yarn and finished in less than 3 days (I work full time in hospital so I couldnt finish sooner). Instead of doing back loop only I just did regular single crochets. I watched the video as I crocheted and made adjustments to how I wanted it to fit me (cover back a little more). I love the shell design at the bottom! Will definitely make more in other colors 😁 thank you so much for this tutorial! ❤
Lovely! I'm a complete beginner at crochet (this was my first time crocheting in straight rows not just in a circle). I didn't follow the rows/stitches exactly, instead I just measured it on my body as I went. This pattern was super easy to follow and I was very excited to try the lace shell stitch at the bottom. I'm so happy with how the top turned out! Great video!! :D
This came out soo good! I do think the starting chain and increase row numbers in the tutorial are more size small than medium but its so customizable it doesn't even matter. Love this! Thank you.
Here's my review of this pattern! I completed this product with 6ounces of Caron SimplySoft Yarn in weight 4 color off white and a random yellow yarn I found laying around on my house that I don't have the information for (more on that later). I used a 6mm hook and this took me several hours over the course of multiple days. Firstly, let me say that I think there was something wrong with the Caron yarn I was using. I don't know if it was an incorrect label or I'm an extremely tight crocheter, but I essentially had to double the amount of rows I did, even though I have the body measurements for a medium top. I started with the chain 18 and had to do sixty rows of increasing rather than 30, 36 rows of straight single crochets rather than 18. I'm sure this is why it took me probably much longer than any of you or Kelsie did. I would seriously not recommend using that Caron yarn for this project. When it got time to do the detailing and edges, I realised I didn't have anywhere near enough yarn left, so I grabbed said random yellow yarn. At the end of the day, I'm actually kind of grateful for the Caron yarn challenges, because my top is extremely tight-stitched and is not at all see-through (which is really crucial since you can't quite wear a bra with such an open back) and the dual toned colors are super cute--it looks like a daisy! Kelsie's tutorial was really great! She explained everything really well, and this is coming from someone who vastly prefers written patterns as opposed to being told what to do. My only grievance was that she didn't have written dimensions for each "piece", but that was mainly because I was so confused with why I was only producing about half of what she was with the same stitches, and I wouldn't really care for exact dimensions if my yarn was performing correctly. She even took the time to respond to a comment I made earlier pointing me in the right direction about my sizing issues and it definitely helped me realize I had to double everything. I'm extremely satisfied with my work and I'm definitely going to look to Kelsie in the future for more tutorials!
I used variegated yarn...my yarn was a little thinner than this one so I started with a 14 chain 40 increases and 24 with no increase....it turned out awesome....thank you so much!n
I loving this pattern and this tutorial is amazingly clear and easy tool follow. I was gna do medium but I decided to do my math. I'm 22" for a front panel so I did 30" so it make it 50 rows of increase which makes it 120 single crochet stitches across so it covers about 4-5 inches of my sides. I havnt finish yet but I hope my math is right.
I'm learning how to make anything but just scarves in an hour. This tutorial is very easy and simple for me. Though I might make some adjustments to the coverage. :)
This was my first ever crochet top and it turned out great! Thank you for this amazing tutorial, it's super easy to follow and the result made me so happy! :)
I love that these tops can be adjusted easily when making them in order to give less or more coverage. It's hard for me to wear somethings due to my chest size sometimes. 😊
I just finished this top and this is my second ever garment I created (both your patterns) IM SO PROUD OF MYSELF it turned out so good!! 🧡✨ thank you for creating easy to follow patterns you’re my fave channel on RU-vid 🥹
I completed one i called mine coffee cream and sugar brown beige and white it came out really nice.THANK YOU❤️🌹🌹it really helped and im making another one
Hi, m from india. I love all the things which you have made. I learnt crochet when i was in 6-7 standard in school. I learnt it from my mother. I made many thing for my home like cousins covers, dressing table cover, plates covers etc but I didn't made any top for me. Now I took this best idea from you and start crocheting again and made this top for me. I have an idea for you. You can also all woolen tessals at the ends of the chains to make it more beautiful😍. Thanks for the tutorial.
You used what we can all get locally. Really great explanations for a lovely top. I am excited to start it as a fifty yr. hobbyist-crocheter whose best friend wants this, :)
I made this top, using the exact measurements u gave and it looked amazing!!!! Thank u so much!! I will watch more of ur vids and I hope to make them!!
I finished my top with some alterations (for a smaller size and more coverage) and it came out beautifully! I only wish I could get just a bit more coverage on the back, but I can't see a way to do that with this pattern without changing it entirely. All in all, thank you for sharing it with us! This project has further built up my crochet confidence!
You could try to chain up 20 after the increasing rounds , then turn and sc across, when you reach the end again chain 20, turn and sc across. (See Madebyjaxx's youtube for reference, she makes that with her tops and I think it could be easily applied to this)
I've watched many crochet top tutorials but yours was the easiest one. So glad I found your video. This one was a success. I finally made a crochet top. Thank you so much! ❤ Subscribed!
I made this and it is so cute, if you haven’t already you NEED to make this!! Edit: I just made another one and it is so so cute I used purple ombré yarn. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was struggling with the first in the back loop stitch. I found stretchy the back stitch before the first sc and then make the back loop sc really helped.
Hi I’ve just finished one your patterns, your tutorial was really simple to follow and I really enjoyed doing it. The result was beautiful. Thank you so much ❤️
Hi, I love your tutorials! Can you please list the chains and rows needed for the other sizes? Like you have done with the Lilly top. It would be much appreciated! Thanks! :)
