Thankyou for showing how to do the granny square , my mum past away 5mths ago and left a half finished blanket , thanks to you i have now finished it . Im now starting my own blanket xx
Geraldine Miles that's a lovely thing to do & I'm sure the blanket that you & your Mum both made is very precious to you. I'm sure that your Mum would be very happy too. Best wishes. x
I simply love love love you tutorials. I'm from the US and you are the best person I have seen to demonstrate how to crochet. Thank you so much for taking the time to show your work. I love it and I made my first blanket watching your videos.
I am an avid knitter but have always wanted to crochet and now at the age of 60yrs,thanks to you,I am now doing granny squares !! Thanks a lot I am delighted 😄😄
Love your Tutorials for crocheting and love your accent. I'm from NY and a beginner Crocheter and found it frustrating when I began Crocheting. When i found your video, I found it very helpful. Thought it was great because you show close ups of what your doing and do slow step by step. I'm Crocheting 2 blankets right now for Christmas. Can't wait to attach all the squares now and see my finished product.
I've crochet for 20 years and never made a blanket with granny squares. Your video helped me a lot on connecting them. I like the do as you go method the best. Thank you so much!
I haven't crouched for years but am just about to be a mama for the second time and after watching your video have started crocheting a baby blanket instead of knitting. I found your video much easier than following a pattern. Thank you. Xx
Bella Coco, thank you so much for your tutorial. Like some of your other viewers I inherited some beautiful granny squares from my dear friend June but I didn’t know how to join them. I am now currently making enough squares for a blanket and I will eventually join them all up using one of your methods. It will be a lovely comforting thing to remember her by. It symbolises our friendship with her work intertwining with mine. She was a great crafts woman. I’ll try and post a picture when I’ve eventually finished. Thank you. 🌺
Hi Jan what a lovely thing to do and a great way to remember your friend. I'm sure she would be thrilled to know that you are using her gift to you in this way, good luck :)
This was super helpful! I recently learned how to crochet simple granny squares and I wanted to make a blanket with some really neat colored yarn I found while traveling but could not figure how attach them and make it look nice at the same time. I am so glad I found this tutorial
Hi Sarah, after making several granny squares for the first time ever, I then found your very easy to follow video on how to join them, which I have done successfully. I am now going to add a border using your tutorial. Thank you for your useful video tutorials.
The mood blanket looks so beautiful. I suffer with bio polar and my moods are so different day to day and making a blanket like this would be a great way to keep note of my moods, plus it will take my mind off things and keep me occupied. I'm waiting for my wool to be delivered and then I will begin. Fingers crossed lol. Thanks for sharing your great ideas and tutorials x
Bella Coco It's really nice that you reply to our comments. I have showed a couple of my friends your tutorials and they are going to learn too. Once again thank you. I now have a focus for each day, something to enjoy and that is so important when you have bio polar.
Thank you for making this tutorial. I started crochet last year, and made a granny square blanket for the grandmother that taught me, i joined the granny squares with a way I figured out on my own. ( I dont even remember) I am now making my older brother a multi colored blanket and am doing the join as you go method.
Hi Bella can you please do a tutorial at the beginning, on connecting granny squares as you go. The one you show you are connecting in the middle of a blanket thank you so much
Hey thanks so much for this tutorial!! Somehow over the summer I forgot to join my granny squares together, because with school, homework, and physical activities going on I've been so busy. But I made the granny squares for the blanket and now I'm ready to attach them together. Again thanks so much!!!
I really glad that I found this tutorial! I always want to make a pretty granny square blanket, but just keep stuck on the step of attach! Thank you so much for making and sharing of this video, Coco! Fan from Hong Kong
I just watched several of your videos... you're my new favorite RU-vid teacher! I am a British transplant thats been in Denver for 10 years... so I really appreciate how clear you are about the difference in UK/US terminology. The kidletts are all settled back into school now, so I'm excited to have some time to spend on my woolly projects! 😀
Hi Sarah I have only been crocheting for about 3 days and am loving your tutorials - they are really easy to follow and even though I pause a lot to catch up to you and replay where I missed something, you are clear and explain things really nicely. I really like your idea of the 2014 blanket. I'm going to try do a 2015 blanket. Thanks for your effort in doing these tutorials
Thank you so much, I have now learnt granny squares. Can't wait to make a blanket. Your tutorials are easy to follow and straight forward. I have taught myself to crochet and this achievement of the granny squares is very satisfying. Thank you again.
I am fairly new to the "Join As You Go" method of joining granny squares....but after doing it a few times, I found it quite easy and fun. I also love crocheting the Mile-A-Minute afghan and found some tutorials which teach you how to use the join as you go method to join the afghan strips. These (Bella Coco) tutorials are great. I absolutely love them!
Hey so I have over 60 squares now, and I want to start joining them all. I love the second method of joining them, "join as you go" but how do you start the blanket? You shown how to keep adding, but could you please explain how to get started with it :-) I'm so excited, I've been crocheting granny squares for 6days now thanks to your video...I can't wait to see it come together, it will defiantly give me more will power to carry on xxx Keep up the fab work. Xx
Thankyou so much for the reply Bella Coco I've worked it out myself last night, and so far have 10 of my squares joined. I think it's the right way, but im sure your next update video will be very helpful. Thanks so much for your videos :-) I'm in love with crochet :-) been a beginner for a week and a half. Keep up the brilliant work :-) all the best, Takecare xxxx
Bella Coco Looking forward to the updated version as I am not getting how to start at square 1 and 2. On my third attempt and I am still getting a raised seam. :) Have done soooo many granny squares and am looking forward to piecing them together.
I was down due to foot surgery and wanted to learn how to crochet granny squares. This tutorial was awesome, and I have figured out what works for me best. Now I have watched how to join my granny squares am looking forward to it. Thank you so much.
I just wanted to drop you a little message to say thank you, I have tried for years to master crochet, but could never get it... We are expecting a baby on Christmas day and so I thought I would try one last time to make a baby blanket... I found your granny square video and it all made sense... you helped me to achieve something that I never have been able to and I now have 64 granny squares ready for me to join together... now its just deciding which method you have shown in this video to do :D I will tag you on instagram once I am finished and let you see what you helped me create for our new little Christmas Bundle :D xx thanks again!
Chloe Scarlet Chloe! this makes me so happy to hear! 64 squares!! you have done amazing!! would love to see it when you have done- what a lovely thing to make for your baby xx
i got my mom watching your tutorial for the granny squares and i think she's going to try it later today, i hope she does because i really enjoy re-watching your videos when i need to. you've become an inspiration to me and i'm forever grateful for your videos, without your videos there'd be no one to show us Americans how to make a granny square from another country. thank you BELLA COCO and much love to you and your family. :-).
Thanks for showing two methods and the pros and cons to each. That was helpful. My husband and I both love to hear her soft calm voice. Your English accent is lovely. (We're in the US.) Blessings.
Hi Bella, me too, I love love your tutorials, such sweet voice, and a sweet person. I made a granny crochet throw, 2 wraps and I’m in my 4th project because of you! Thank you, immediately! All the best, today and always! 💕💕
Wow, you make it look so easy. This video helped me tremendously . I never wanted to do granny square because of the joining, but now I am having a hard time finding something to make because I want to do everything. Thank you so much.
OMG thank you!!! I've watched other tutorials, read about how to join squares... but I can't make it work, and I still have a bag of squares! The first 4 and a bit minutes of this video made my blanket :D I can't wait to get home to try! Thank you!!!
I love, love your videos thanks to you . I literally learnt to crochet watching your videos, they are very detailed and easy to understand.... Do you have or can do a video on how to read crochet patterns and diagrams.... Also do you crochet with crochet thread?? **not yarn.
Your Mood blanket is delightful. I have enough squares to make 2 blankets and I have decided to join them in the two ways I have learnt from your lessons. PLEASE continue to put your videos on youtube. Dawn
I haven't crocheted for years and watched one of your videos last week and am now hooked!!! Thank you for your straightforward instructions...very much appreciated :)
Thanks so much for this! i've only just started learning and i'm making a blanket of my own :) found this really helpful it means i don't have to pester my mam all the time! lol subscribed!!
you're the first person i seen that hold the needle and thread like I do, my mom taught me, but everyone I have met holds the needle like a pencil and the thread in the other hand different.. it's so nice to know I'm not weird in how I hold the needle and thread :) and ty for showing how to attach the squares, it had been so long since I crocheted I had forgotten :(
I'm trying to start the "join as you go" method. How do you add a border for the first granny square? Should I do what you did in the "single crochet " video and make a border around the entire square?
Thanks for the video. My granddaughter asked me to teach her to crochet. I haven't done any in quite awhile and I had forgotten how to join the granny squares. We are making a poncho for her. Best of luck with your teaching. You do a great job. Elaine in Warwick, RI, USA
+Bella Coco hi!!! I was just wondering if the border is just another layer of a diff colored yarn being weaved in just as how we did the previous layers?

Thank you so much. I have made my squares and have used the first way to join my squares to make a cushion cover. My next project will be a blanket and I will attempt the second way. I have wanted to do this for a long time and finally found you to help. It's really helping me through a rough time at the moment, giving me something lovely to do. Thank you so very much. You are lovely. X
Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge of yours. I am from Brazil and I happened to be looking for some teaching methods to start a project for the year. I loved the way you chose your colors and of course how you teach the squares. My mom used to crochet but she passed away last year and I don't have her anymore to teach me and show me the way. She would love to see the squares I made trhough your lessons though. Thank you again...
Hello Bella, i have to agree with Sheena Chatman, (12 months ago) I have down loaded your tutorials for my granddaughter, 8 years of age, to learn from you, as you are very clear & set a good pace for both her and myself to work at. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Tina in Perth Western Australia July 2017
Of all the craft tutorials I have found online, yours are my favorite. I can't wait to complete my granny square blanket. I wish I could make something for you as a thank you gift to show my appreciation. 🥰🥰
Thanks so much for all your videos. I learned to crochet from my Nana many, many years ago and haven't done it for a long time. Your videos have been a great refresher for me.
I used your 'granny square for beginners' video to re-learn how to crochet (i did a little bit about 25 years ago!) & have made about 50 multi-coloured squares. Each one is 4 different colours and edged in purple. Just watched this video & I'm now ready to join them. Thank you so much for the videos, they are fantastic and so easy to follow. My kids are looking forward to me finishing 'their' blanket and have had fun working out which square to put where :0)
love your voice and our easy way of teaching I just started crocheting again after learning about 40 years ago I did not like ti t then but love it now I know my first project is not perfect but I am totally happy eith it thanks again
Thanks to your videos I now know how to crochet & join Granny squares. I now hope to move to the next level , but I'm not sure what that might be ? I'm rubbish at reading a pattern so watching you makes it so easy.
Flossie Muller I think to improve your skills you must try different patterns and stitches. How about the African flower? Thats a beautiful on and it very fun to do! :) x
Thank you for doing this video. I had been doing the single crochet method of joining up my granny squares but wanted to do a blanket without the seam it makes at the back. Thanks again x
I want to say Thank You for teaching me how to Crochet. When I forget how to do some steps, I always come back to you. You are awesome. Thank you again. I like this program.
I have recently found your channel and it is now my "go to" channel for anything crochet. Your instructions are detailed and easy to understand and follow. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!!!
I love your tutorial s I am a complete beginner but I have learnt so much from you, I am currently working on a blanket for my new grandson and whenever I'm not sure I look on here and I'm always thankful to find what I need to learn done by you, well done keep it going if not just for me but loads of others 😁
I want to thank you SO MUCH. I was about to through away my crochet needles due to my lack of being able to read the patterns and understand them thanks to your tutorials I made my first crochet granny square and can't wait to try others on tutorials you have made.
Thank you so very much for teaching in a way an all thumbs person can learn to crochet. I actually have achieved joining granny squares with the as you go method. You are my hero and I look forward to learning more about crocheting from you.
Hi Bella Coco. Thank you for sharing your lovely tutorial on joining the granny square’s , I am from the uk like yourself I just wanted to say that we use the terminology Double crochet in the US they call it single crochet, in your link you do have the correct terminology, I am only pointing this out for the new ones who are from the UK. Thank you so much for all your lovely work. I really hope you didn’t mind me pointing this out. Xx
You are very welcome, I don't mind at all, anything that you think is incorrect I will always encourage it being pointed out. I do work in UK terms and in this particular tutorial I do mention that their is a link for a handy conversion chart for the US terms :)
I have just used this brilliant instruction and completed an edge on a granny square cushion cover. Looks amazing! Thank you for such great instructions and ideas
Thanks for your tutorials! I have to say they are so helpful! I am off work sick and I have found crocheting to be a wonderful thing to do! It's creative and I can still do it whilst having the shakes I couldn't crochet at the beginning of the year either
Thanks for excellent tutorials, I am back to crochet, thanks to your clear instructions, after a gap of over 40 years and am completing a blanket for my 95 year old Mum.
Your crochet mood blanket inspires me so much, that ever time i want to make one wen the new year rolls around i get so busy with other things that i completely forget about it and by the time i do get around to making one, the year is already half gone. My new years resolution is to TRY and make a granny square mood blanket. :-).
This is great! Extremely helpful! I went from not knowing a thing about granny squares to knowing how to make a blanket in just under an hour! Thank you so much!!!
Hi Bella Many thanks for a brilliant tutorial, after a few attempts I have finally got the hang of crocheting :D you always explain everything so that people can understand in seconds
I just found your channel and it is perfect for me. I'm a loom kniiter and I keep seeing beautiful pieces but they're crochet. So I taught myself to crochet (using your granny stripes video). This is also a great way to attach loom knit pieces together. Thank you so much!💚
this is awesome from your videos did I not only learn how to crochet squares but now i know how to connect them to u have really helped me my friends know how to crochet and now i do to plus i was also needing a hobby for a long time i have found what pleases me and u r one of the many people I have to thank so thank u xoxoxo
Thank-you for your video's, Ive just finished my first ever project, a small granny square blanket for my daughters doll's pram. I'm now going to start to make one for a baby's cot as im pregnant and will be so happy to be able to hand make something for him x
Hiya Bella, thank you so so much for doing these beginner videos. Although there is a lot of pausing (on my part) on them, they are very clear and easy to pick up on. I however found this one a bit hard as I am not too sure how to start joining the first two granny square's together as you have recorded this video of your blanket half way completed.
Thank you so much for your videos. I first watched your granny square tutorial and you make it so easy to follow!!!! I'm glad I came across them!!! Can't wait to see what mine will look like complete!
Just what I was looking for. Thanks for the choice of ways to finish too. I'm new to crocheting and my last blanket was a bit 'bumpy' around the places that I sewed them together, so this will be perfect. Thanks for the easy follow tutorial.x
Thanks sooo much love the single crochet stitch look have made a massive blanket.... had to un pick a few times lol... watch all your posts so clear thanks a million
I'm only twelve but my sister who is much older than me showed me how to crochet I loved it so I learned from her! But now I have a bunch of grannie squares so I've decided to make them a blanket. This tutorial is really helpful thank you very much!
Hi just thanking you so much. I was uncertain what way to face the squares I'm glad I could get this off the to do list. Great video so clearly explained.
Can't wait to try the connect as you go method. I've usually always just used the single crochet method. Hope to see more tutorials from you in the New Year. Happy Holidays! 🎄
hey bella coco. I love your videos. I learnt to crotchet from them. I followed your video to learn how to crotchet a solid granny square. could you do a video on how to join them together to make a blanket?
