I’ve made a couple of blankets in this st. It’s great with 3 different colours, dropping each at the end of a row and picking up the next, carry them up the side when not in use. Try with James Brett chunky, as it changes colour gradually so you get a lovely interplay of slowing changing colours. Any slowly changing colours are fun.

Don't know why I waited so long to try the Moss stitch. I love the simplicity of the stitch and it provides it's own border. A lot of thought goes into what stitch I use from color of yarn I'm using, who I'm making it for, how big it will be. Love it and it works up pretty quick. I'm using royal blue and yellow for a blanket going to a college freshman. Will be using this stitch again.

This is a stitch I am wanting to learn. I started working on it this evening. I have been doing Sc, hdc for a while now. I love how you can change the look of a simple stitch with one chain and it looks like you spent hours on the project. I might have to go back a row on mine i think I started in the wrong spot on the second row.

I can usually follow along pretty well with all your tutorials, and I love that you explain the US and UK terms for each stitch used.. but For this stitch, I had to chain 2 to start each row. I tried just chaining 1 to turn and start, but my project, a lengthwise rectangle, kept getting bigger and smaller as I went along the length of the project..

Great tutorial as always! I have one suggestion though. I think it would be helpful to make one row of sc into the chain, and then start the pattern. Starting the pattern into the chain, and leaving every other chain empty, doesn't give a very clean finish. A border of course would be helpful, but I don't always border my pieces. Some patterns to me look nicer without a border, and this is one of them.
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet 4 года назад
Thank you 😊 Yes I have seen this done with other patterns too and I think it comes down to personal preference - there is certainly no reason why you can’t begin with a row of sc into the chain if that’s how you prefer to work.

Very clear explanation, especially the third row. Most instructions call for skipping to the fourth stitch on the first row after the chain, but they never say why. I've been having trouble knowing how to find those holes I'm to stick the hook into as in my swatch there really aren't holes. You don't do it. I had someone at our knitting and crochet group ask me why you would need to do that. So one corner has a bigger hole?
@bellacococrochet
@bellacococrochet Год назад
Thank you 😊 Normally when we skip chains in the beginning it’s to bring us up to the right height to make our first stitch. Sometimes with crochet differences in patterns like you describe come down to personal preference and neither way is necessarily right or wrong. It’s really common to have trouble finding the chain spaces in this stitch when you first make it; you can use stitch makers to help you by looping them through the chain spaces in the beginning so it’s easier to see 😊
@dorasmith7875
