Welcome to my Resilient Butterfly Tutorial. This little butterfly was first designed for my Resilience In Bloom blanket. To see this blanket head to theloopystitch....
You can purchase the written pattern which includes step-by-step photos and a chart too from my website above, Ravelry or Etsy.
MATERIALS:
For this tutorial, I used Stylecraft Naturals Organic Cotton in the following colours:
Gypsum, Peach, Coral, Peppermint, Sage and Storm
4mm crochet hook
Scissors and yarn needle

I thought the jinx commentary was adorable. Somehow it wasn't annoying and it made it feel like a friend was crocheting with you and showed the realities even the pro's face. Thanks for not editing that all out.

Love these - my daughter has requested one in pinks so I'd better get to it! 😂 I often play a tutorial through before I get my hooks/yarn out, so I've got a good heads up for what will be coming and where I might need to pause etc and I find yours so delightful to listen to 😄 thank you for sharing your crochet and your personality, both are beautiful!

This came out absolutely stunning and im in love with it, i used greens and greys outlined in white and its gorgeous now im gonna do blues & browns, then peachy orange & deep rust color and all outlined in white, so excited to see other combinations, my sis n law loves butterflies and shes gonna be happy im sure, thanks a million for sharing, ur appreciated ❤❤❤❤❤

That's okay, we all had to start someone. I recommend Googling or looking it up here in RU-vid, find someone who explains it well and take baby steps, don't put too much pressure on yourself, because it can be scary and fiddly but it is all worth it in the end. Think of the things you could crochet 😀

This butterfly is GORGEOUS! I'm considering using it for a dreamcatcher I want to make for my daughter. About how wide (tip of top wing to tip of top wing) & tall (tip of bottom wing to tip of top wing) would you say this comes out to? 🤔

Thank you, that sounds like an amazing idea. The measurements will differ due to your yarn, hook and tension, but these ones measures 20cm x 9cm. You could make them smaller with finer yarn.

Thank you. It's an 8 ply cotton. It wouldn't weigh too much but that will depend if you use the same yarn, and have the same tension etc 😀

Here's a question for you. If i wanted to make these butterfly wings on a mogwai doll and i needed to take it uo to 10 rows that can be done easy right? Mogwai like Gizmo from gremlins.

Yes I believe you could make it bigger, just increasing each row in the same way. I'm yet to try and make a really big one - I'd love to see your finished Mogwai doll.

Hello there :) Yes, please of course you can sell the finished pieces. It's known as DK Double Knit... which is about an 8ply and I believe it's a bit lighter/thinner than the medium weight in the US. I use a 4mm hook with it if that helps :) And you're very welcome. x

Every time I'm starting out, my magic circle gets stuck too large after the 7 doubles and won't close and it's so frustrating

That's not good to read. Have you tried pulling the MR a closed a little after making it, and then work stitches into it?

Yes i try to make it as small as possible to start out. The tail is supposed to be able to pull it tight but it wont and i cannot figure out what im doing wrong. I even went back and looked up how to do a magic circle to be sure i was doing it correctly and i believe i am. It just wont close up @theloopystitch

@@theloopystitchI figured it out. After 10+ tries lol so when I first begin the magic circle, making the little X on my fingers, I had my tail where my working yard should be on the X. If that makes sense for anyone else I hope!

You're my favorite person, right now. I have to ask, why do British and Australian ladies, use American crochet terms, but the American ladies can't speak English, apparently? I got so turned around, lol. I was like, "I KNOW that's not a single! What IS this madness?!!! I'm a beginner! I learned American terms from everyone, BUT Americans!" LOL. I'm American, btw, so, my fellow Americans, please don't get mad. It's all in good fun.

Hello - please see these instructions :) From the left menu, select Subtitles. Click the video that you'd like to edit. Click ADD LANGUAGE and select your language. Under subtitles, click ADD. x

Hello :) follow these instructions go to your RU-vid profile icon in the top right corner, click on Settings, then click on Language. Choose the language that you want for your subtitles and save the changes.

How do you finish all the leftover tales you just cut them off?

Yes 😀 after finishing the rows, I cut the yarn about approximately 10cm, then after completing the final round (white for example in this one), I weave in as you crochet over some of the tail on this round 😀
