So true people always want the profit but you who makes the crochet has to lose out if they want to make a living am having this problem in Barbados even by tourists
Crochet is very fashionable in High Street stores atm in the UK. With the advance in technology, crochet can now be mimic by machines. I've inspected some of these items, and whilst they look pretty, it's clear to the trained eye that they are not made by hand. The average consumer will not know this.. I believe the throw-a-away fashion types won't care either tbh.
Actually only a third more (30%) than most knitting. Three times more would mean that a hat (1 skein) would need 3 or 4 skeins to crochet it. Most winter hats only need 1 skeins to crochet and are a little faster to make, although I know there are many knitters that can stitch blindingly fast.
