www.goddesscrochet.com presents Crochet Tutorial - Water Bottle Holder. Easy and fairly quick to work up, this makes a great beginner project. Find the written pattern here: www.goddesscrochet.com/2013/07...
I was in the process of doing the strap. . . Then my father (who is going through chemotherapy, so he carries a drip bag for 1 day every 2 weeks) saw that it fits his drip bag and can shorter than his current one. So now it's his drip bag holder. XD It's ok tho, im happy he likes it, and i get to make another one!!! :D
This project is beautifully simple and skillfully taught. I'm still fairly new to crochet and have been learning by watching videos. I understand all the basic stitches, but still have difficulty reading patterns. Something always goes wonky. You are one of 3 amazing teachers I've found so far. Thank you! Thank you, for sharing your skill so beautifully.
I can’t stand the magic ring for crochet! So unstable. Whenever it’s called for I always substitute a chain 3, and then join to the first chain with a slip stitch. The tail can be used to close any holes later, and it won’t come apart on you.
Excellent instructions! I followed along and realized soon after I started that my project would be too large for what I intended but finished it instead with two single crochet rows - It's absolutely perfect for a coffee cup and I absolutely love it. Now I'm going to make it with finer cotton yarn and smaller hook. Thanks so much.
You explain SO well!! Very great tutorial. My water bottle is a bit larger than that, so I’m adding an extra row on the bottom and hope it turns out ok!
I started my water bottle holder with a friend showing me step by step to start off and get to the body of the holder. I got stuck and couldn't figure out how to make the strap and crochet it on the holder. Thank you for your clear instructions, close up work and very pleasant video :)
I was here looking for a macrame video for making a water bottle holder and came across this your crocheting video. You make it look so easy and explain it very well for anyone to understand. I had no knowledge of how crocheting was done, but now I think I do. My mom has been crocheting from when I was just a child. I think I may borrow her needs and stuff, Mahalo for getting me interested.
This is great! I was just looking at the condensation drip down my water bottle and thought, hey I bet someone has made a bottle holder...and this was the first video I came across 😊 thank you so much for the tutorial! 😊
I felt so so happy and accomplished after I finished the project! Thank you so much for your detailed step-by-step instructions! It was like you knew exactly what I was struggling with that you would repeat yourself in that step! The water bottle holder is a gift I'm sending out today. Many many thanks again for your willingness to post this video and share it with everyone!
Thank you for sharing! I loved how sharp the images were and that you explained everything clearly. I've made my first bottle holder and made try making another one for my sister!
Love the way u explained project I made 20 already to give out 2 my friends and family members who go 2 the gym they all loved them keep up the good work hope 2 see more videos and have a wonderful and blessed day
This was exactly want I wanted. It looked harder and more complicated then it was. I was able to modify (longer) to my bottles. I also made the strap 6 wide instead of 3. Thanks so much is was clear step by step directions! Thanks!!
Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial... Mine was little bigger. Thanks for your easy to follow instructions and demonstration.. You made it easy for learners like me to do something so beautiful like this one..
My bottle was a bit slimmer and taller so i stopped at a certain point for the bottom then went from there it is absolutely perfect!! thank you for making this simple to follow video!! Perfect for short hikes or zoo trips. (:
Omgg thank you for this tutorial 😊 it was too big for me so I made a smaller one by making the foundation chain 2 then chain 2 then 8 double crochet as my starting, but all the steps I followed your tutorial.
I love this video easy to make and exactly what I was looking for when I go walking. I will be making theses for a few of my friends. Thanks for the video
I've noticed a few differences in your video tutorial compared to the pattern you have on your site but I was able to jot down the differences and now I can't wait to start my own bottle holder!! Wish me luck!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial and I have done a Water bottle holder last year and it fell apart and this one is so much stronger and I've also switched mine with two colours which are pink and purple 😍😍😍
This was a wonderful video. I made your lovely pattern into a crossbody style holder for a Swell bottle and it fit perfectly. I tried a dozen patterns, but yours was the one that I was looking for. Thank you for sharing your skills and the video was very well done.
Thank you so much!! I love my water bottle holder and it looks so professional and nice. The video is so clear and I could follow it even though this was my first project. Thank you!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the pattern. I do a lot of field work and I need to have my hands free, but I also need to carry a large water bottle because it gets very humid. I will make this for the next time I have to go out :)
This is nice. I've only done single crochet shell stitch afgan. What about adding a drawstring for other bottles? How would I do that? Thank you for your video and have a nice day :-)
Curious question here - why is it necessary to to do a chain 1 when starting a new round? I mean I realize that doing so gives it the needed height, but that height is accomplished even if that extra chain stitch isn’t done. At least from what I’ve done myself, that seems to be the case. Thanks!
Hi Julia! It’s just kind of standard. You can probably get similar results without chaining 1, just might want to keep your first stitch marked with a stitch marker so you don’t lose it. Do whatever works for you! =)
+Shirley Rothman hmm...you could use two can koozies stacked on top of each other (cut the bottom out of one), and use a few hook sizes up to make the holder a bit bigger. That might work!
Why is it that sometimes the double crochet is counted as a stitch and sometimes it isn't? This has been an ongoing puzzle to me, so I wonder if you can explain please?
What is it that makes it take shape? Is it the crocheting into just that back loop? I started making one from a different pattern and then changed some things here and there, but I just don’t know how to go from a base to the cylindrical part. I haven’t found anything that really explains this! I’ve watched other tutorials toward the end and it seems like they say it just magically happens. Not for me it doesn’t! Thanks for any helpful tips. I like how you go through the process.
It’s not so much the back loop crocheting that gives it shape, I just like the look of it. Once your bottom circle is big enough, just stop increasing and only do stitch for stitch. Does that makes sense?
Hm. Ok. Yes, that does make sense. I didn’t make my base circle by increasing though, at least not that I recall. Maybe I did something equivalent along the way. My last row was double crochets in every stitch.
Instead of doing the “walls” and going upwards, try another increase row or two before building up the walls/body. You could also try a thicker yarn or even going up to a 5.5 wouldn’t hurt.
+Carla Rivera Hi Carla, yes, just start with your magic circle and go right to row/round #2. Follow the written pattern from there and you'll be golden. Here's the written pattern link (I think there is a clickable link to the written pattern in the video as well): www.goddesscrochet.com/2013/07/22/crochet-water-bottle-holder-free-pattern/ Happy hooking, Joanna
Thank you! I noticed on the strap when you turn you remove your hook and re-insert. ( is there a reason ) I usually turn and continue. Just curious. Explained very well. Happy 4th of July.
Hi. My water bottle is big and has a bigger base than what you have shown. What do I do after the 2 double crochet in 1 stitch and 1 double crochet in the next? The part where you ended the bottom.
Hello, sorry to hear your bottle holder is coming out large! You can go down a hook size to make the holder a bit smaller. Also, after the 2 double crochet, 1 double crochet row you’ll be working double Crochet’s in the back loop only. If you’d Iike a written pattern (with chart), you can find that here: www.goddesscrochet.com/2013/07/22/crochet-water-bottle-holder-free-pattern/
Thanks for your prompt answer. I made one following your pattern but this time I want to make smaller one n was wondering whether I can get the same result. Thanks, your’re a good instructor.
I hope you see this message...how do I increase for a larger bottle. Also why do you drop your thread when you turn around. I understand the turn around part. Thank you for sharing 🌼🌼🌼
Coloring With D if you’d like to make a larger size all you have to do is go up a hook size. The dropping and turning the hook is just my habit. Doesn’t make a difference in the finished item.
Goddess Crochet thank you so much I was thinking I would have to add an additional row. Thank you about the turn around, I was taught to keep it in. I will be working I this in a week or so for family coming from Holland. I’m excited since I have not done this in 19 years.
