Very nice. I always thought that for corners, you were supposed to work in 3 single crochets, but it doesn't look like that's necessary.

Hi.. it depends on the project, hook size and the yarn. Some of the big projects may require 3 to 4 stitches at the corner, while the small project like this doesn’t… best of luck for your project.. Happy Crocheting 🧶

should every row after the first one end with a double crochet? since the first one you started on the second chain and ended with a slip stitch

Hi… every row should start with half double crochet and end with slip stitch.

It will work with any yarn any size. If you wish, you can change the hook size as well.. but check with the size. It should fit on your mug. Here, I’ve used a large sized mug. If you mug is of medium or small size, adjust your foundation chains n rows as per your requirements. Happy Crocheting..❤️🧶❤️🧶❤️🧶
