Got lots of scrap yarn in beautiful colours and you’re fed up with making granny square blankets with it? Here’s a neat idea to decorate your house or garden that uses a minimum of crochet stitches and can be made as long as you like. Simply adding rows of double or treble stitches into each previous row will enable your wind spinner to spiral as you create it and then it can be hung in the breeze with a glass bead stitched on to weight the end. The same technique can be used to make ruffled trims on garments and soft furnishings too.
The full pattern is available in issue 147 of LGC Knitting and Crochet magazine, on sale from 8th December in the UK at all good newsagents and supermarkets.

Is that a number 4 yarn that you're using?

Thank you for your tutorial. Do I necessarily have to change yarn

No, not at all, just join each round with a slip stitch and then work 2ch to bring the working height up to the next round, c x

Obviously can’t be bothered to show properly. There are far better tutorials on RU-vid about this. Bit late to the party

We try and keep our demos short and not too repetitive which is why I didn't crochet the whole thing from start to finish. Hopefully there was enough working shown of each round for you to see what was happening?

You are doing a DOUBLE CROCHET!!!!

Haha, US double, UK treble. I was taught by my Londoner grandmother so always use UK terminology, c x

@@TheCraftsChannel I've seen a few uk RU-vidrs use our USA Terminology!

@@tracyhall4648 I think 50% of us Brits do, old habits die hard though. A lot of it depends on how people learnt in the first place. I still wonder how and when the terminology split! c x
