Stop, I just wanna make this gorgeous thing in my colors but I also wanna do the fabulously colorful snowflake one and the retro ornament blanket. Seriously I have been having a horrible week of being dead named and misgendered and just so much drama and you seriously made me so happy I'm in fighting back tears cause I cry ugly. You honestly have been the bright light at the end of a very bleak tunnel. Thank you so much for being you

This is a beautiful easy quilt! I’m about to start my 3rd in this pattern. Slate blue with black woven through it. It goes really quickly and the end result is impressive.

Love this method of doing a plaid! But, having done a project using this method last year, I must say it IS a yarn hog and when planning a project, it's important to make sure you have enough. In my own experience, after working about 30 rows I realized I needed 3 times as much yarn as I planned on to make the afghan size I wanted. My fault. But no worries. I turned it into an over sized pillow and I like it very much. On the bright side, it does make a nice, thick, WARM afghan. That's the kind I love. But, of course, it will take a lot of yarn. ALSO! I have to mention that, really, it is so flexible. You don't HAVE to follow this exact color scheme or pattern. It could work with any type of tartan/plaid design. Just be sure the horizontal and vertical lines are equal. For instance, if it goes 6 green, 3 blue, 4 white, 1 black horizontally, then it must do the same vertically. Also, choose your starting and ending row/column half-way through a larger section. If you want to do a complicated pattern, making a cheat sheet is the way to go. By the way, I love the way you add the fringe. That is SO clever!

I realize this was 4 yrs ago, but just in case, I made a few scarves with this technique. Instead of threading yarn strand, I made a huge starting chain and threaded that through instead. I didn’t need 3 times the yarn. The scarf was warm and I added tassels at the ends.

Now. Go look up the Loud MacLeod tartan. It's an eye-burner - blazing yellow with black and red stripes. My husband is a descendant of MacLeods. I want to do that for him.

I'm having an AWFUL time doing the fringe. I'm doing it the way you've shown-turning the blanket so I'm looking at the edge where the woven strand ends with an "under," bringing the doubled strands under but in the opposite direction of the way the woven strand is going, and then pulling everything up through the loop of the doubled strand. But the woven strand feels as loose as ever, like it could pull right out of the knot. What am I doing wrong?!

Hi Mikey 👋 I m finishing up my blanket with your good instructions! But I’m not sure what to do with the sides that do not have fringe. I have a lot of little tails and tried a single crochet but it looked wonky because of the thin edge. What should I do? 🥺 Thanks 🙏
@TheCrochetCrowd
@TheCrochetCrowd 2 года назад
You could decide a colour and do an evenly spaced single crochet along the edge.

I really want to make a crocheted afghan for my boyfriends grandmother, but I'm still learning how to crochet and it seems so confusing for blankets. All I've made so far are booties, roses, a ball, and a few other random things. Do you think I'll be able to make a blanket in time for Christmas? Reading patterns just seems so confusing.
@louised6790
@louised6790 8 лет назад
Christen Summers I feel your pain. I have found it extremely helpful to watch a video while following a written pattern. That was how I really learned what the written pattern was actually saying. Also, while being somewhat new, don't bite off more than you can chew. You only frustrate yourself and that's when it becomes intimidating. This pattern in this video looks really complex just by looking at the afghan itself. I'm pleasantly surprised how easy it is! I'm confident you can have this done by Christmas 😉
