Just learning how to crochet, this is a great starter project! It is a pattern that comes together quickly and Claudette's instructions are easy to follow. I used a bulkier yarn and this will be a fabulous headband for the winter, and it's pretty! Finished garment comes out exactly as pictured in the tutorial!

82 stitches seems like a lot. I shortened mine a little and it still seems like it would be too big for a woman's head. maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'm using red heart super saver red metallic and a 5.5 mm hook.

You do such a good job of explaining and illustrating. Especially showing which chain you should start out at, that's challenging for many of us. I can't wait to try making this pretty thing, with winter coming it will be a welcome addition. How I wish RU-vid would have been around 50 years ago when I was first starting out.

FYI - Last Stitch only of Each Row - use a half double into the entire stitch not in the back of the stitch. This makes sewing easier as there aren't gaps and your work is more even. I use Caron Latte Cakes and a 5mm hook for 11 rows.

I am trying to make this with a thin yarn as I don't have a bulky yarn at present. However, I took 82chains but it keeps on decreasing as I proceed. It is becoming shorter around the head as and when I measure it. What should I do? Will I have to start over?

Hello, I have a query! I tried to make a headband 2 times, and I have a problem! Like when I made the chain, I made it shorter than my head by 5 chains, because once it stretches, it becomes loose. But when I tried it, it didn't fit. The next time I did not leave the chain less, and made it as a whole size of my head, now it's loose from the start! What should I do!!
@horseslove7623
@horseslove7623 3 года назад
Remove 2-3 chains I guess. It also depends on the yarn you use because cotton yarn doesn’t stretch but acrylic is more stretchy.

Made mine with navy blue and white stripes and it turned out great! I suck at measuring, though, because it's just a smidge too big. Still very wearable, but it sits on my head rather loosely. I measured properly and thought I'd chained accordingly (I did a chain of 78), but I guess not. So whoops. Still, this is a lovely pattern and I will likely make a handful more before the end of winter, with more accurate measuring this time around! Thank you so much for the tutorial!

I started trying to make this yesterday, following your excellent and very clear instructions - but for some reason it came out all wavy and uneven, and had to be unravelled after a couple of rows. I tried again, and the same thing happened. Do you have any tips as to what might be the trouble? I am using a wool yarn, not acrylic, but surely that shouldn't make any difference?

I absolutely love the look of this head band. I have made about 30 of them and I am finding that the first ones I made for Christmas gifts were crocheted with 60 chains and everyone stated that while wearing them they became too loose. So, I made the next ones at 50 chains and the same thing happened. So, I made about 15 more at 45 chains and everyone said they fit great at first and the longer they wore them, the looser they became. I don't know what else to do. What do you do about them stretching out and becoming too loose? Please advise on what is wrong and how to correct it. Does all crocheted things stretch out and become loose and is there anyway to get them to fit tighter after they stretch out?
