I think they will last 10 years or more if looked after reasonably (with repairs). A double leather as opposed to rubber sole may be even less country, C&J change their offerings in this regard. I do recommend that you try them in the flesh if you can, there are a number of shops in London that sell C&J, so maybe contact those that have in stock the shoes you're considering and... make a relaxed and enjoyable day of traversing London. A pair of shoes that you enjoy, that last well, can be repaired and get better with time, offsets to original outlay, and don't forget, smiling each time you tie them up is part of the value you get for your money. (October 2019) I have noticed that the two pairs of Crocketts that I've had refurbished are a little bit closer fitting than they were before. Not a problem and this may ease with time.

I'm afraid with this pair... not very often, as they are my 'everyday' shoes. I don't mistreat them mind you, I just get on and wear them and they seem to be getting nicer and nicer!

@@AntonBrowne thats even more amazing, as the leather did not crack from what i could see. do you have any boots from C&J?

Just a little tighter all around, due I'm guessing to the new foot bedding, sock, heel pad and stitching, taking time to bed in. Not particularly noticeable in the toe, more across the centre of the foot.

In my experience, the C&J 'E' (normal) is about the same as Church's 'F' (normal). The shape of the last from any manufacturer, has some bearing on fit/size. C&J 'F' is a wide, though there seem to be some 'EE' fittings which are wider than 'E' - they may be vintage-ish though. Current C&Js seem wider than vintage, maybe people feet have got wider, who knows. Good luck.
