The iconic peaks of Cnicht, Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Bach form the sides of the narrow U shaped valley of Croesor, and provide a dramatic backdrop to the historic houses of the estate. The Croesor river starts in these mountains, and winds it’s way down the valley, forming several deep pools and dramatic waterfalls. Eventually it joins the Glaslyn on the flat reclaimed land of the Morfa, created when the cob was completed in 1811 in Porthmadog.
